Hi all!

My wife and I are what we like to refer to as sexy vanillas; we're not really interested in swapping, but we like to show off and watch others. But it does bring us to a couple of questions about Desire:

1. As non-swingers, will we be welcome, I.e. Will we get a lot of flack from the more adventurous among you about why we're there?
2. If one were to go by the photos that the resort uses for advertising, everyone who vacations at Desire is around 30, in peak physical condition, and looks like a porn star. Alas, my wife and I don't fit that mold any longer. What does the average Desire attendee look like? Are they more or less "normal" looking, but naked? At ages 53 & 47 will we be able to find people interested in hanging with us?

I guess we're trying to gauge whether or not we'll be the only couple at the resort not looking to swap?

That's us in June this year, 46&51, no swap, but just like you like to show and watch. First time for anything like this.
Mainly 40_50's, but range from late twenties to mid 70 when we were there.
We had a most amazing time and will be returning December.
In short, you will fit right in.

I'd say that typically less than half of the guests are swingers, and even those that are don't pressure anyone to do anything. They might ask if "you're in the lifestyle" and if you say no, no one cares. Drinks all around.

You're about the same ages we are, and that's about in the middle of who is there. To be sure, there is some eye candy, but most people are pretty normal looking but naked, and more importantly, no one cares or expects you to look like a porn star.

So to sum up, not being in the lifestyle is absolutely not a problem, and there is no right age or fitness test. All are welcome, all have fun.

This subject has been discussed quite a few times. After 4 visits I can assure you there all shapes and sizes. I have seen female body builders and woman who are very overweight. One very large woman owned it during one of our visits and won the sexy lingerie contest. Come and enjoy the sexy vibe, no pressure to do anything outside your comfort zone. Oh, and those pictures on line are models I'm quite sure not guests! We are in our mid fifties and have a great time and Barbie I'm not. As long as you are approachable you find people to be very friendly.

Agree with everyone. You will be very welcome by everyone and no you will not get any flack at all. Every shape and size—really. We’re 57 and 55 and love it.

Thanks SO much for the patient, thoughtful responses! We're still not there in terms of having the nerve to visit, but at least we have a better idea of what a visit is really like, and not just from the website propaganda!

We are just about the same as you....sexy (in our own minds) vanillas! We visit LS clubs and have a ball...we flirt and get flirted with.

So we tried DP and loved it! We found other non-swinger couples who like you, enjoyed each other and watching others. Very hot. We had sex on the cabañas, got naked in the jacuzzi, danced, drank, ate, slept, and made great friends. Does that sound like a great vacation or what?

We are planning Trip #2 and we can't wait!

We've been to Pearl only one time, but we feel qualified to answer your questions.

1) Yes, you will fit in. There are plenty of people that hang out on the beach beds relaxing and never end up participating in any of the shenanigans by the hot tub. In March, there was a gorgeous couple from France that kept to themselves the entire time in the un-heated end of the pool and never seemed to mind it. People go there for all different reasons. Some just want a week away from kids, some enjoy the sexy atmosphere but have no intention of joining in, some are looking to jump into lifestyle activity with both feet. Everyone has their own motivation. Find yours and enjoy the week.

2) You will see all kinds. Of course, there is some self-selection going on. You'll only find people with the confidence to go to a nude resort. Does that mean that only people who are young and fit are confident? Of course not. You'll find plenty of people in their 40s, 50s, and 60s. On our trip in March, we saw one single group that was probably in their late 20s, but they were the outlier. When the clothes come off, the playing field gets leveled right away. You have to survive on your personality instead of what people perceive of you based on your dress. Some people don't have very nice personalities, and it really shows when they have nothing to fall back on regardless of their age.

Have you booked yet? If not, what are you waiting for? DO IT! We were there the first week in August, and it was the most fun vacation we have ever taken. Read our trip report! After you read it, book your trip. Get involved with a Yahoo group to get to know people before you go. Talk. Shop. Fantasize. The anticipation of going is almost as much fun as the actual vacation. Not really; nothing is as much fun as being there.

This is true and I will add that it continues on afterwards as well. My wife has coined this "The Desire Effect".

For us, connecting with people before we went on the forum and on the Yahoo group were invaluable and really enhanced the trip even more. Less than 30 days since we got back from trip #1 and less than 30 days until trip #2 so we are enjoying afterglow and anticipation at the same time which is how we are avoiding what I coined PDDS (Post Desire Depression Syndrome).
