Looking to book our 4th trip to Pearl in Feb, but when trying to book a package through the various travel websites, the only option is the Penthouse Suite. It is showing up at a rate of $1,450 per night. The availability calendar on Pearl's website shows that all rooms are available on our dates. Any idea why orbitz, expedia, etc are only giving me the option of the most expensive room? As a side note, the sites are offering the lower level rooms at Desire RM for the same dates.

Due to the large, year long renovation project where one of Original Resorts properties(Temptation) will be closed, they reduced availability at most of the on line sites for the Desire Properties in order to max out their available profit levels.

You can however book directly with the resort for all room categories

I thought the same thing, but when I looked a week later, all rooms are offered. We are even looking at the first week in Feb, which is usually a lower occupancy than the second (Valentine's Day), at least judging by this forum and the official availability calendar. Feb 3-8 is $3,200 per person, with flight, while Feb 10-15 is $1,500 pp.

We booked Pearl the last week in January with a travel agent. I had looked at Expedia and found exactly what you reported - the only rooms offered were the Penthouse rooms. However, Expedia had rooms at RM at a good discount (air plus room). We also ended up booking a trip at RM for the middle of March and got an incredible discount on an air/room package. The rates seem to vary greatly depending upon the week and when you book. A lot of it is driven by the rates the airlines give the online travel agencies.

It is strange, because it's only on the weekend of Feb 4-5-6, the weekends before and after both have normal rooms offered.

When we were looking in to booking most of the dates we were looking at came back empty. We booked through DPT and it was even less than the travel sites listed for the same room.

Is DPT direct with the Resort? If so, we checked that, but they only seem to offer Delta and American Airlines. We need Frontier so we can get direct flights.

Ok, we gave up on our original dates of Feb 5-9, due to it being triple the price, and booked Feb 10-14 instead. Being a glutton for punishment, after we booked I checked back to see if the price went down at all. Not only did it not go down, but all the travel sites now say Pearl is sold out for these days. The Official Desire Pearl website shows that there are still Junior and Master suites available, but all other categories are gone, including the Ocean View Room that we had booked. Anyone thinking about these dates may want to book soon.

Air travel rates always drive me crazy. When we decide on a trip I start checking prices daily. It's amazing how they fluctuate. On the happy side, we'll be there when you arrive and will be happy to have a drink ready.
