Mosquitos love me. Is there anyone else who is loved by mosquitos who's been to Pearl recently and can offer a report? We're at Pearl for our first time on 12/14. Thanks!

They love me too. We were there early/mid November and I think I got a bite. So essentially bug free because if there had been more than 1, they would have found me.

We did a split trip between both resorts in October. I left Pearl with 3 total bites after 4 nights. After the first day at RM I had 30 bites. But most were no see ums on my legs. It was they worst I've had in five years worth of trips.

Remember Uncle Bob's recipe for mosquitos:

1 Spray bottle
fill 1/2 way with Listerine
fill 1/2 way with 151 rum
add 6 drops pure peppermint oil.
Shake & Spray
They won't come near you, and you will also smell good !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was hoping this being dry season would work to our advantage on that front...and sounds like it. I've also heard of getting a lot of bites from the ants (as reported by Mrs. Jones on wegottathing) so we requested a non-ground floor room. Hope that solves that.

Thanks for the replies, all! Oh, and I like that home brew recipe though not sure wrangling the ingredients is going to happen for this trip. I guess we could pre-cook and put it into a container in our checked luggage. But sounds like it's not worth it for this time of year.

Interestingly, I and the wife of another couple we met, got bitten by something this past week. It was not mosquitos. Seemed to itch more when I was in the hot tub but now, a day after we got back, they are basically gone. Never really saw anything doing the biting - odd.

We were at pearl in March and again in July - never saw a mosquito.

YAY for me first reply! Temptation feb 16 DRM AUG 16 PEARL Jan 17! So the mosquitos freaking follow me around and bite when I'm not swatting wherever in the world I wind up....EXCEPT i dont seem to get bit anywhere in Mexico and was not bit at all at DRM!! Have a blast and DO have tooo much fun!

Second trip in October. No mosquitoes, but wife and I came home with multiple noseum bites. Got bit the first night sitting on the ground floor patio at dusk. After that legs and feet had Off and it worked. BTW unlike mosquito bites that disappear in a matter of minutes noseum bites last for days.

We didn't have any problems whatsoever in our mid-December trip. :-) Thanks again to those who helped us leave the bug spray home!

In September we noticed no mosquitoes. In late November we did notice some at the hot tub in the afternoon session. From my perspective it wasn't bad, didn't even get any bites but did see some others that had some noticeable bites. It was only in the late afternoon period where we noticed them though.
