The quite side of the pool had only one umbrella and the activity side had umbrellas for only half of the chairs.
To ensure that we had an umbrella on the activity side we had to tip (or bribe) the pool boy $ 20 US a day.
It was impossible to get an umbrella on the quiet side.
I blame management for not providing an adequate number of umbrellas.
We were there March 12 to 19 2017.
This complaint was common amongst non members.
This issue was quite a downer!

Other than that one issue everything was top notch and we will be giving the Pearl another visit next year.

I agree with this in general. My wife has very fair skin and I've had enough sun over the years that I really don't need any more exposure. We aren't members so it's always a challenge to get to Victor in time to get a spot by the pool with shade to cover us. Oftentimes, there just aren't any spots left.

I know it's a tough logistical problem and we always make do with however things work out but it would be nice if we didn't have to worry about it.

Quiet side does also have several beds with canopies. Comfy. It's also possible to get chaises with tree shade...

Interesting that my post about umbrellas and chairs being reserved for members has been removed from this thread twice. It was not negative.

Members or not, we are paying enough for these vacations to Desire Pearl that this shouldn't be an issue. There is no excuse for DP not to have enough of them for their guests other than they wanting to save money.

We have been to DP 6 times and are not members. We have never had a problem getting specific loungers or umbrella, regardless of the occupancy.

Seriously though, we have had problems getting shade and have had to resort to the beach for shade as my wife burns easily.
