Was at pearl last sept. While booking for this years trip a restaurant called "Unik Gastrobar" is listed. It was not there last sept. Any info on Unik Gastrobar would be appreciated.

Yes- The Gastro Bar did replace the Sushi restaurant above Aphrodite. They installed their own kitchen and we enjoyed the Gastro Bar much more than the Sushi restaurant.

The warm, fresh made potato chips they serve rather than bread are amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed the pub.

This was our third visit to Pearl. Not being big sushi lovers at home (Canada ) we skipped the Sushi restaurant our first visit .
On our second visit a couple we met took us to it (and ordered for us) and WoW what a difference well prepared sushi can be.
This year we booked 9 nights and we're looking forward to .... Yes .... Sushi.
Not to worry , we ate twice at the Gastro Bar and food was excellent. The only chute de pluie would be that the food they serve is similar to Pearl and Aphrodite but definitely worth a visit or two. (Reservations recommended)
P.S. Order the Lobster (extra) at Desire . I did this as a suprise for my wife on our last night.OMG! Delicious !

We were at Pearl the last week in January and ate at the Gastro Bar twice with another couple. All four of us thought it was by far the best dining experience at Pearl. Small, nice ambiance, very soft (nearly dark) lighting (unlike the relatively bright lights of Aphrodite and Pearl). Food was excellent, in particular the appetizers, most of which we tried. We thought the food was superior to the other two restaurants. The drawback is with the small size and preference given to guests of the suites and premium members, it isn't easy to get into. But highly recommended from our standpoint.

Totally agree! We also ate there twice during our trip in December and thought it was the best place for dinner.

Can confirm, just ate there last night. We set off the fire alarm while they were preparing Baked Alaska at our table. Fun times!

Unik was by far our favorite dining experience--both times! Mostly due to the fact that staff are amazing in accommodating off menu items the second time. The only detraction is that the menu doesn't seem to change--probably because it is printed on giant boxes they set in front of you. No worries--plenty to choose from, great view and very good food. We liked it much better than the Pearl restaurant.

On thing I hope they can capitalize on is the amazing deck outside of the restaurant. It is quite windy despite the clear panels. Perhaps they need to be higher? Nonetheless, one of my favorite nights was sitting out there at dusk as the sun went down and the moon came up. PS--they will bring you drinks out there. It would be great if that were a bar/lounge.

When we went in December, I didn't think it was called "Unik" Gastro Bar - just the Gastro Bar. Is that part new? Does anyone else besides me read that as "Eunuch" Gastro Bar and get a little skeeved about it?

They put up a sign on the side of the building where you go up the steps that's written in a pretty elaborate script that reads sideways up the wall. At first glance, you can't really even tell it's written in English cursive letters. It takes a second to figure out that it's in cursive and you have to tilt your head to read from bottom to top.

The menu is a box, be sure to look on all sides, even the skinny ones, as they have a number of specialty drinks listed there.

They have an amazing spicy beer with the spices the Mayan's traditionally used in chocolate. Sounds gross but tasted great.
You must try the chicken bacon thing as an entree. Make dinner reservations when go to the hostess stand at breakfast - first come first reserved.
