So is anyone who has visited recently willing to share what the animal instincts competition entails?

It seems to happen somewhat often that the marketing/website people have ideas that don't get implemented by the staff on the ground. I think some event or theme has been "cancelled" or changed every trip we've taken. Not sure where the disconnect is, but it sounds like this may be one of those ideas that just never came to fruition on the ground.

This was exactly the case during Memorial Day weekend. They whole "superheros/villians" thing that was on the events section of the Pearl website was almost completely and totally ignored/never brought up/etc. No bodypainter, no special theme, etc...

The events coordinator was even contacted by someone off this board ahead of time for clarification on which night that would be the theme for the disco and they said Friday... The staff was clueless upon our arrival and most people did Friday, with a handful doing Saturday. It was a mess.

Communication is definitely not Pearl's strong suit.

Thankfully that's also not high on our requirements list. ;)

This.

In my head I see the new hire marketing gal who is gung ho to inject fun new themes and activities into the resort schedule! She works with the web department (comprised of Jose who is learning HTML and CSS while he rebuilds washing machines for his father's business). They publish the new schedule on the site and she sends a memo to the resort manager.

The resort manager is busy locating the lost pallet of Don Julio, trying to find someone who will shovel sargasso seaweed for 8 hours a day, and comfort a housekeeper who's mother just passed away. Reading the latest update from Jalena about the new themes is way the f**k down on his list. Maybe he'll remember to print it out and post it in the ET staff room - but maybe he will forget.

Somebody will complain that the Neon Glow party was supposed to be last night so why did they have the Uniform night instead but you know what? Those people will be gone in two days and there will be a fresh batch to take their place.

But I could be wrong...

But probably not. Probably very close to spot on. It's not a good sign if these observations continue to be made, posted and discussed about, and zero response. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

Eh. I don't necessarily think it's a problem. It would be nice if there were fewer glitches and It's a little frustrating to the uninitiated when you are expecting A and get B but in the grand scheme of things, it's not that important (IMHO of course).

Not that there *aren't* issues raised in other threads that they need to address obviously.

I also get the lack of, or relatively few, responses here from Desire. This is not an official Desire board and it's a slippery slope for them to start responding to every question or issue raised here. Plus, if they start responding officially here but something different happens at the resort, we are in the same boat as theme night discrepancies.
