Another vacation at Pearl?

We've spent 14 nights at Pearl each year for many years, but missed going in 2016. Now thinking of returning for 14 days in September 2017 and would appreciate some advice .

Any big differences at Pearl over the past two years? (they just finished the new roof on the pool bar when we were there last)
How is the seaweed this year? Is the beach clear and is the water OK to swim?
And are there sufficient loungers round the pool for guests who are not members? This was a bit of a problem in previous visits.

I don't think there has been much change in that time.

Seaweed is a week to week if not day to day thing so you really can't make a call based on any particular report.

Loungers for non-members continue to be an issue - especially if you want/need shade. You need to get up early and hopefully Victor can find you a spot but it's a bit of a crapshoot.

We were there in April and there was plenty of loungers by the pool. The seaweed was present but they cleaned it up as best they could. We dont go to swim in the ocean anyway, and the major change is that the lobby is all redone and the new gastro pub was added above Pearl and we thought it was fantastic. Everything else is the same as in 2015, still great service as always.

Oh yeah, forgot about the Gastro Pub. Yes, loved it! Highly recommended.

In 2015, they only had one row of loungers around the pool (I think). They have since added a second row, which has made it a bit easier to get a place. We find that tipping Victor and/or G at the beginning of your stay will help you get beds held (perhaps $40-50 depending upon the length of your stay). Also, it depends upon the week. Some weeks are more member-heavy than others.

When we were there in April / May, we had no issues getting lounge chairs - with or without shade. Of course, we hung out at the quiet end, but while the other end definitely had more people, it still seemed like there were empty chairs (non-reserved) on most days.

And +1 for the Gastro Pub. We went twice during our week long stay, and the visits there were our favorite dinners.

So we've now booked another great vacation 12-26 September

One other thought - is the sin room the same? And still as underused as in past years? We may need to help that along
