Smoking at the jacuzzi now allowed? (Hope it isn't true)

I just ran across a review on a travel site that said the smoking policy has changed and Pearl now allows smoking at the jacuzzi. Please tell me this is false. Nothing ruins the mood faster than nasty smoke.

We're counting down the days until our December trip. We're so excited to get back there. The last time was when the jacuzzi was closed for retiling. We too would be very disappointed if this was true. Say it ain't so!

Just back and the jacuzzi is still posted as smoke free. Sadly many guests simply ignore that. Saw a lot of smoking on the beds and on the deck. The problem is one of the failings of the management at both Pearl and RM. All a smoker needs to do is ask the bartender for an ashtray. I've talked to management about the availability of ashtrays in non-smoking areas and just get a shrug. All the bartender needs to say is "no smoking allowed". Non smoking guests should all demand that at the least no ashtrays are given out.

We prefer the smokers not do it at the jacuzzi but step out and smoke elsewhere. Especially the cigar smokers!

I hear ya Darren & Melissa. Cigars are a sexy fun buzz killer for us. Had someone ask us around the pool if it was ok if he had a smoke and we kindly obliged only to find out it was a long f...ng cigar. We had to move as it lasted & lasted for hours. Yuck !!

Won't make the typical agreeable Canadian "oh sure go ahead" comment again but rather let them know it's a no go.

Two years ago when we were at the Pearl a fight nearly broke out late one night over someone smoking in the hot tub area. My husband had to diffuse the situation. I'm afraid to say the smoker probably would have been a dead duck, the very nice, classy however angered guest was a big, strong guy.

In this day and age nobody really wants to be around smoke if they're a non smoker. Smokers should know and respect this. Step out, go away from people and have your smoke. No judgement at all, just don't bother others with it or put people in the awkward position of having to say no to the request.

Better yet, management and staff could just say no for us and not allow it to happen... Crazy thought.

Agreed, it puts the guests at odds with each other. The resort should take care of it.

Haven't been since January, but if I recall correctly there is a "No Smoking" sign to the right of the bar.

It is still a posted no smoking area. So no worries.

Maybe i spoke too soon. This evening there were a couple of people who smoked in and around the jacuzzi. I plan on mentioning it to the staff tomorrow or as we leave.

We were there last January, and I saw a couple smoking right next to the No Smoking sign in the Jacuzzi. They were really hammered, but the staff said nothing to them.

I hope management reads this and will take care of the situation. Especially cigar smoke is really annoying, even for cigarette smokers.
