Champagne at Pearl?

Hello All,

Wife and I heading to Pearl for our first ever CO experience next month. We love drinking champagne, but I don't see it on the list of available drinks at Pearl. https://www.desire-pearl.com/faq.php
Do they really not stock any? If they do, but it's a separate purchase, what kind is it and how much a bottle?
Is there a spot to buy several quality bottles in the Cancun airport before we catch our USA transfers transportation?

Thanks!

It is part of the no charge liquor. My wife and I drink it all the time. We often sit at the bar and have a bottle before dinner. Good times.

For what it is worth, the house sparkling wine is not Champagne. I think it is a Chilean sparkler usually. It's fine, especially by the pool or on the beach, but it is probably not going to be confused for a quality bottle of Champagne. If that is important to you, you might stop on the way or consider bringing some with you. We usually bring 6-8 bottles of wine with us to take to dinner, etc. We have also ordered off the list, but I do not recall what kind of Champagne selections they had.

The wife drinks the "house champagne" almost exclusively at Pearl. Yes, it is Chatonier sparkling wine (not champagne). It is an ok basic sparkling wine. Add cranberry for breakfast!

We usually splurge for a bottle of veuve cliquot one night during our stay. Expect to pay around $100.

That's what I was considering... That's a lot of wine to pack in the luggage for us though. I hadn't planned a stop at a store with USA transfers. Is there a place in Cancun Ariport Arrivals to purchase some wine/champagne?

This is good to know, thanks! Sparkling wine can do in a pinch ;)

I believe there is a shop in the baggage claim area at the airport. We have not shopped there, but if it is anything like the duty free shops going outbound, it is probably mostly liquor.

Another option is to ask your driver who is transferring you from the airport to Pearl to stop so you can pick up something. They're always accomodating, just tip them a bit more.

You can also ask for the Esteban, porter of the Reception. He can buy the drink that you want...

That’s exactly what we do every time. We’ve used the same transport company for years in Cancun and the driver knows he’s making a pit stop when he sees me. I like Don Julio 1942 Tequila and my wife likes Spanish Monastrel wines. We have cocktails while getting dressed to go out and it’s nice to have in the room. I never thought to bring a bottle of wine to dinner but I will this time.

We always stop at Super Chedraui in Puerto Morelos - your transfer company will happily stop there for an extra $30. they have an excellent selection of wines directly in front of you as you enter the store, and some very nice bottles of champagne.

Just a little information for those that don't really know about Puerto Morelos - Puerto Morelos is not just the part that exists down by the waterfront but extends way back beyond the main highway(ie that you use to get to & from the airport).

The Super Chedraui is located just off of the main highway, not anywhere near the part of Puerto Morelos down by the waterfront ;)

The house champs is fine. We have had it day and night. The disco bartender has given me a bottle at end of night for a tip to take back to our plunge pool with friends while wiating for bottoe 2 to be delivered.

200 hundred meters after your taxi leaves the highway and enters in the road to Puerto Morelos, there is a gas station. Besides it, there is the store "GO MART LA EUROPEA". They sell all kind of wines and licquors at prices around 10% higher than Sam's. For example, today a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Brut costs $865. pesos ($46.75 USD at today's rate). A Möet Chandon Ice Imperial, great for warm weather, costs $999. pesos ($54 USD). Prices include taxes.
Once at Desire Pearl, a short trip to Go Mart La Europea costs around $250 pesos in taxi, round trip.
