Where to put our room key?

This might be a naive newbie question, if we're nude outside, how do people cart around their room keys? Are they a physical key or a card? (We'll be asking for a non-ground floor junior suite, so no other entrance to room...)

The room keys are mag stripe card keys.

What many do is bring a small lanyard for around your necks or a elastic wrist bands to snap your key cards onto and have the front desk punch a hole in your key cards. The alternate is if you take a small bag for your beach/pool items(sunscreen, etc) just put them in there ;)

Just do NOT place your room key card next to or on top of your cel phone. Nothing sucks more than getting back to your room all excited and ready to burst.......and being locked out because you accidentally de-magnetized your key card on your phone battery! That walk to the front desk REALLY SUCKS!!!!

Ha! I've done the naked walk to the front desk before but not for that reason.

As for where to put the key - my hat has a compartment for such things. Even so we always have a small bag - you're gonna need sunscreen too. Another thing, it would be pretty inconvenient to go from the pool all the way back to the room just to put on something to wear in the eating area that is right next to the pool, easier to just have that stuff in the small bag. Plus we are not really carrying it around all day, mostly it is at our pool chairs.

During the day we use a beach bag.
The problem is at night when you're dressed in Theme night attire and have no pockets.
We use the wife's small makeup bag.
What I'd really like to see is them make a wrist band that electronically opens your door like lots of vanilla resorts have gone to.
Then this question becomes mute.

There's the answer, we've been to a few places that do this and it is very nice.

Oh man... great idea, this.

Agreed, a great idea, with one caveat.
We never liked that band on our wrists when holding each other.
Last year we got our wrist bands cut off for the photo shoot then had them put back on our ankles instead to be less in the way.

I can just imagine our lack of grace while trying to lift our feet up to door knob height in front of our doors!

They could go with choose-your-own combo locks like the safes...

P.S. The usual expression is "this question becomes moot."
No judgement, not trying to be the grammar police, just spreading the word ;)

We like to leave our room with absolutely no clothes or belongings, so we hide it. At RM our card ends up in the bushes next to our room. At DP we just put it in the door (between slots of bamboo). All of our valuables are in the safe, so it’s really no big deal if someone uses the key to go in our room. We’ve never had a problem, and we love the feeling of walking from our room to the pool or beach completely naked and toting nothing!

Great idea - simple, yet effective. We had been trying to figure our a good solution, and I think your suggestion is our answer.

One couple we met hid some condoms in the bushes, they were not there when they went to get them. I would think if the staff noticed something in the bushes they probably would take it to the front desk or throw it away depending on what it is, so you better camouflage it good.

Picked up some Reef "Stash" sandals a few years back. Hidden pockets in the heels that easily hold key cards, credit cards and tips for the staff. You can walk about with just your sandals  That said I don't see them for sale anywhere online. There are some other options - ladies wedges, etc. May be worth checking around?

Getting off topic here, but the Reef bottle opener sandals are fun, especially if you learn to open a bottle while they are still on your feet :)

Had a pair of these and had no desire to open a bottle after I used the first public restroom...YMMV

We were there for a take over once and the travel agency gave out Wrist Coil key holders like these
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Doffice-products&field-keywords=Wrist+Coil

We use it every year. Just have the front desk punch a hole in your key.
