Cell Phones at Pool - Courtesy Please

We were on our second trip to Pearl in January and we noticed many more cell phones out and held up in a position which could easily be filming people. We voiced our concern to the pool coordinator and asked him to please request the man to at least lower his phone if he is reading something. This staff member had a harried demeanor and indicated he would try to handle it in 20 min but that he had something else he had to do. Hmmm. The guy with the phone was not the first or only man who was doing this on this trip (we didn't observe any women doing this), and to us, it felt like the shared privacy aspect of our safe space was somewhat violated. Def a buzz-kill!!! Obv there are no guarantees and we have to accept this could happen, but it would be nice to be more respectful. I had to go across the pool to speak to this gentleman, but it felt like there were so many other phones popping up that it became a game of whack-a-mole!

What I would hope is that when we are back next month that either 1) Desire returns to the stickers, and/or 2) that the pool staff will keep an eye out and nicely remind folks to put their phones horizontally. I get it that we can all be filmed secretly without being aware, but as the woman, it would be nice to not feel like I am being filmed for some upload on the internet. There needs to be a feeling of trust and safety, especially for our fellow women who are new to the atmosphere of Desire and may have reservations. At the very least, the hotel management needs to take these concerns very seriously and reinforce staff education on this matter.

I'm just hoping we can all work together on this, trust each other to keep this paradise intact, and have each others' backs. If you see people doing this, please help us all by giving a friendly reminder.

While I understand your concerns, it is not just men with phones, and men too are concerned about their privacy. A while back at a c/o resort, I experienced a woman taking my picture...

Let's not be sexist, as everyone should respect everyone else's privacy.

I do agree with you on your premise.

Thanks for your friendly feedback Bill. I was attempting to be clear as possible on my comment being based on only our experience, and do not mean to imply that it is only men who do this or only women who are upset by it. We also encountered so many women on our trips who had to "ease into" clothing optional and openly volunteered that it took a while to feel trusting enough to do so. It sounds like we agree on the issue. I did see on the RM forums that they allegedly reinstated the stickers for the cameras.
Oh, and just for the record, I REALLY like men :D :L :L :L

I didnt see much of that last year at Pearl. I voluntarily bring bright colored stickers to cover my phone lens with me in case I am check for missed calls from home and people might get the wrong impression. That is about the only reason I would ever look at my phone during the days by the pool at Pearl. I cant imagine being at the beautiful place and checking facebook to see what my friends are doing.

Our First trip to RM, they put the stickers on my phone and check in and it ruined my phone case. My phone case had a design on it and the sticker peeled off the design when it was taken off. I am glad they don't do that at Pearl. If I ever saw someone who looked like they were taking pictures of me or friends, I would go up and ask them to stop. I know someone who was at Temptation and saw someone taking pictures, so he walked up and grabbed the guys camera and threw it in the pool (kinda a dick move but it took care of the situation).

I occasionally bring my phone to the pool or beach to try to get a couple pictures to shhhh people back home. I make it very obvious I am taking a shot, I set it up to get no one in the picture, and I wouldn’t be offended if someone said “would you mind showing me the photo” if they had any concerns. I also have my wife “blow up” the shot after I take it to verify it is “clean”.

It’s a matter of respecting each other’s privacy.

Is it totally out of line to take pics?

I understand privacy concerns and would never try to take someone else’s picture. But this will be our first time at a resort like this. I was really wanting some pics of my wife nude by the pool or beach. Or maybe have someone take our pic together.

Or would this be way out of line?

I think if I saw someone using a phone without a sticker, I would very quietly go to the front desk and explain what was going on. They should be aware, and kindly ask them to resolve the issue before it "gets out of hand" I don't think anyone would want that. The butlers are also good for that sort of thing. I would hope that considering the amount of money we pay to stay there, it would weed out the riff-raff, bottom feeders you know...

We think that common sense should always prevail. The sticker gives a guarantee that no one will do anything that invades the intimacy of others. We've been to Pearl a year now and they gave us stickers .. We will be back in April / 18. If they do not give us, we'll improvise something to avoid such a problem. Common sense!!!!

LOVE it, but yeah, probably a little more aggressive than necessary haha. On our first trip a person laying on one of the hot tub big beds was holding a phone up (probably reading the news) but it was pointed toward the hot tub action. We asked, then called out louder, then yelled and the person still didn't hear us. So... we all started splashing towards the person who was so startled but this person had an "aha" moment and a mea culpa. It's all good. We need to play nice with each other (and play together often :)

We had the same issues in December, lots of phones out and no stickers. Management should take care of this. Guests shouldn't have to police, or reprimand, other guests. That could easily create a bad situation.

Holy ego Batman, it’s crazy to hear how many people are thinking someone’s going to take their photo. Here are a few reasons to rest easy:

1) The internet is massive. Let’s just say that someone takes a pic of your nakedness and posts it. Do you really think that some facial recognition software is going to pinpoint you from Joe Scmo’s random vacation blog? You’re concerned about that, however, you’re in the jacuzzi giving anyone who will talk to you your name, occupation, and where you live. All with your tits out.

2) Desire is expensive. Really expensive. Some happily married couple, who’s saved and saved, and planned and planned, and is so excited about their Desire vacation, secretly did all this just to take photos of you. Check your ego and think about it. Desire is a way bigger and exciting experience than a stupid photo of your old ass will ever be.

3) Porn. Back to point #1 about the internet. There are a bazillion beautiful cocks and racks that anyone can look at for free, anytime. Yet, what is probably really happening is that person who has access to look at anything they desire instantly online, paid huge bucks to come to Desire just to take a photo of your button dick.

So, the next time you think someone’s sneaking a pic of your vast volume of skin, my suggestion is this... smile and pose. You’ll look a lot less silly doing that, than getting yourself all worked up worrying that someone actually cares what you’re doing. I don’t mean for this post to sound harsh, but everyone truly is there for the same reason you are - and I promise it’s not to take you home as a digital souvenir.
