gocolts wrote:That's weird and alarming....we go for our 2nd time next Friday, hopefully someone gets to the bottom of it. So do they still start the shows at 10:30? They are still advertising the theme nights every night, but from what I'm reading there wasn't any real theme night or show. We have outfits for every night we're there so we'll hope for the best.

They had the theme nights and things do still start at 10:30 but, with the disco open much earlier and a strange mix of pre-show music in there before, people seemed confused and many came and left before 10:30 on the day we visited and our friends said it was like that other nights. I would still get right into the theme night and go for it - in the end, it is up to us to bring the party!

Yep- we'll just head down there and see what happens. When we were there last July the disco was packed at 10:30 for the shows, would seem really odd if they weren't.

We were there last January and the disco was packed also for the shows. Headed back the end of May and again the first of November for 8 nights each. If they did change it for the worse, we may have to cancel November and book somewhere else. Nothing like screwing up a good thing cause someone "new" wants to make their mark by putting a change in even if it results in a poor outcome.

We also just returned and didn’t like the new night time routine, no time to mingle and meet and talk the bands are in the disco and they leave the doors open so the bar is very loud. When the disco is busy you have a very awkward time when they take down the band equipment and everyone that hasn’t left leaves and it’s hard to get people back to dance to dj.
Really messed up the flow for the evening and talked to a lot of people that complained, hopefully it will change.

We're heading to DP in just over a month for our 3rd trip. Really hope the rectify the problem before we arrive. Would appreciate update from those who are currently there or recently returned.

The daily activity sheet (https://i0.wp.com/blog.desire-experienc ... .jpg?ssl=1) indicates that some nights the bands are in the disco and other nights entertainment is near the pond.

Isn't the "lobby" and the "pond" basically the same thing (separated by a sliding glass door now)?

I am equally worried about the break in rhythm of the evenings (dinner >> lobby band >> disco dance >> hot tub...) being changed up. It seems like an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" scenario.

It was Horrible. We will not go back until it is changed back. It is so much better when everyone mingles in the lobby and the growing anticipation of going in the Club. Most people had left the club before the entertainment even began.

max4play wrote:We were just at Pearl and the evening entertainment was NOT good. Except for one night, there was no entertainment in the lobby bar area. Instead, there was something in the disco until the "official" opening at 10:30 and it totally ruined the vibe. In the past, people would get dressed up, mingle in the lobby and wait for the disco to open. It made for a really social and fun vibe, full of anticipation and gave people a chance to show off their creativity with costumes and make new friends.

Now, people would walk into the lobby, go into the bar for a bit and, often leave because it was too loud to visit in the bar and it created confusion about when things were kicking off. The bar in the lobby was dead and most people had left by 10:30 so the disco was dead. The one night there was 6 people on the dance floor at 10:45 - it just wasn't working. We complained and were told the new manager, who came from RM, wants to mix things up but why mess with something that wasn't broken?

We sent emails to comment and ask for changes to make the lobby bar a hive of activity again but didn't hear back. We'd encourage others who were there recently and agree with this summary to write them and let them know how they feel. Maybe others like the more chill vibe in the lobby now but we sure felt it messed up our Pearl!

Very sad to hear. Did they at least update the song list in the disco from the repetitive, dated dance music with awkward rock songs? It sounds like not many people hung around to find out.

In looking at the calendar it appears there was no entertainment scheduled for the Mon and Tues nights that they had bands in the Disco. It also appears they don't have a men's contest night.

Nope. It was the same as always when were there. Only stayed in the disco one night. Same list as last four trips.

For what it is worth; I relayed these concerns in the e-mail I received from the resort today confirming our flights. There were a couple of names cc'ed that are probably in sales. If I receive a response I will pass it along. Our expectations are set - rain in the forecast for the time we are there and the fantastic night scene that I have read about no longer exists. we will make the best of it.

We just got back this week and panned a lot of the entertainment for the week at our departure survey. Each individual act wasn't bad, the singers were good, but wow, listen to Opera and then go into the club and dance and have energy....

The music in the club was updated, it was at at least newer, less 70's, more dance mix, but there were times the dance floor would empty out because they would have a bad transition.

3 nights were more "old style" and those were well attended and people stayed longer.

We just got back (2nd trip). I can say that Friday 5/4 through Sunday 5/6 were the "old way" and we had a great time. Next time we plan to be there 4-5 days, hopefully it's switched back to the old way all nights by then.

Looks like comments to management have worked. Just saw on Trip Advisor. Now I hope they follow through.

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with the Tripadvisor community.

Our pool is working perfectly and we are ready to offer our service and comfort to our guests, the days that we were remodeling our main jacuzzi. The bathrooms in the jacuzzi area have been a success, we have obtained excellent comments. In terms of entertainment, tests have been carried out on requests from our guests to put on some nights bands on the disc, not getting the best comments, that is why the bands return to their original place. Our entertainment team have excellent comments, and I am pleased to inform you that Charly and Kia are back in our animation team since 1 month ago.

Best Regards.
