Okay.... Maybe a boring question for many.... But are you allowed to fish off the Desire pier? I love fishing and would like to bring a travel rod and reel.

Have thought about it so many times but never have. I have seen people snorkeling around it and jumping off the pier but not fishing.

Our first trip about 5 years ago there was a couple who had made a hook out of a piece of wire or a paperclip and some string were using bread for bait. It was amazing to watch. Looking into the water you wouldn't see any fish then when the bread hit the water they were everywhere. I only saw them catch a couple fish but it was cool to watch. I assume it is ok because security was out there watching too. Probably could have caught a lot more with better equipment.

Oh shit that's funny, we met that dude (Ron Popeil) in Alaska during a fishing trip in 2005.

We were just there last week and it's in bad disrepair, large sections missing, definitely closed.
