Temazcal...a new spa experience at Pearl!
Posted: Tue Dec 11, 2018 10:58 amTried a brand new spa experience this trip called Temazcal. Fantastic cultural, cleansing experience followed by a 50 minute massage next to the sea. Wow just wow! Can't believe how refreshed we felt afterwards following days of going pretty hard. Great mid trip experience to re-energize and reconnect. Louis (the Temazcalera) took us on a fantastic journey of the mind and body.
They just started offering this service. We were the 5th couple to try it. They perform this ceremony and massage at the north end of the property next to the scuba shop.
***This is not a sexual experience but done nude. Imagine you could wear bathing suit as well. Can be done with more than one couple. We had a private session.
Here is a little bit about the Temazca ritual...
Temazcal -- which translates roughly to "house of steam" -- an ancient Mexican practice that goes beyond the standard steam bath to include the presence of a shaman, who recites ancient prayers and chants to help guests slip into a meditative trance.
With a history that can be traced back to ancient Mayan and Aztec civilizations, Temazcal takes place in a stone or adobe hut. Water is thrown on heated, volcanic stones which fills the dome with hot steam for a sauna-like effect, while incense and aromatic herbs perfume the air.
A Temazcalera leads participants through a ritual of chants and prayers aimed at cleansing, not just pores, but minds and spirits. Built intentionally to resemble a woman’s womb -- the entryway representing a birthing canal -- the overarching theme of Temazcal is rebirth.
