Trying to find out if it is safe for us to use the beach beds. Has anyone experienced any sand flea bites at Pearl? If there is a sand flea within ten miles it will find my dear wife. She will welt up like a blip. Well, more like I do when a mosquito finds me. Dime size welts. Just wondering if we need to spray up before we go out. Thanks for any info.

I don't know about sand fleas, but the mosquitoes were out in force in January. I have a shaved head, and ended up with about a dozen bits on my head one night from random mosquitoes in the room.

We've walked the beach and spent time on the beds on the beach many times, and have not been bothered with bites during the day.

The only time we have had problems with something biting was sitting at our patio table on a grd floor unit.

We've used the beach beds during the day to chill and late at night to get it on and have never gotten bit by anything but the wife! Nothing like the beach beds late at night!

Well it looks like my wife has nothing to worry about, except getting nibbled on by a two legged Casanova. :D

I seem to be vulnerable to the tiny ‘jejune’ that harbors in moist cool sand (mornings). Victor warned me about them when he saw the welts on my feet. I now use Backwoods Off on my lower legs and keep my flip flops on in the mornings if I walk in the sand. Once the sand warms I have not been bitten.

The presence (and annoyance) of flying/biting insects has varied from trip to trip. We bring Off just in case.

Our last August trip, we got bit up by something. My hubby had went on the beach. And the next day I had bites all over me. Little red bumps, super itchy! First time we ever had a issue. We were in a ocean side plunge pool room.
