Hi everyone,

We need some opinions please.

We have just booked 5 nights at Pearl having been to RM 6 times previously.

We just listened to the Swinger Diaries podcast about the difference between the two resorts and they said at Pearl that the disco wasn’t very good land lasts about 10-20 mins???

Is that right?

Thanks in advance

From my perspective, like most everything that may or not happen at a Desire resort a lot has to do with the guest; frisky, looking for action, play, just want time with their mate, etc. The disco is usually standing room only for showtime. After the show some level of guest leave, others stay around and dance for some period of time depending on whether or not the music is to their liking or they have other activities on their minds. The music selection at times came be repetitious and loud and not the genre that folks like. If we do not like the music we always give the DJ our request, which is honored after his set is done and then make our own fun off to the side. IMHO, your answer is yes, no and depends.

Thank you for the reply.

The Mrs loves getting and her groove on and all the other shenanigans that go on in the RM disco, so she is a little worried!

I am usually one of the last ones in dancing in the disco after the show at Pearl. Usually by midnight to 12:30 most have migrated over to the jacuzzi and the party is in full swing there when we get there after dancing.

I think people don't hang as long in the disco at Pearl is because of the incredible jacuzzi. RM's jacuzzi doesn't come close, hence the later disco action. That being said, I agree with what a couple others have said. We've been there when the disco stays crowded till midnight, and when it clears out shortly after the nightly show.

And on some occasions people leave the jacuzzi and head back to the disco and sin room to party. Last trip we did this and had a blast. My wife loves the mirrors in the sin room because she can see everything going on.

True, RM disco is way better than Pearl's... But also true that the Jacuzzi after party makes up for it!

That is why we love both resorts and alternate our visits between both!

PS - The sin room is better at RM too, but then again, the Jacuzzi at Pearl makes up for it ;)

We have been to Pearl three times - twice for a week and once a split trip with RM (4 Pearl, 3 RM) and have now been to RM 14 times. We have enjoyed and had fun at both resorts. While we definitely agree with previous posters that it is very dependent upon the crowd during any given week, in our experience people were more often dancing and enjoying the nightclub a lot longer at RM than Pearl. I don't think it has anything to do with the relative merits of the hottubs at both resorts. It is more crowd driven (RM trends a bit younger and more party oriented). We prefer the nightclub at RM, but that is more subjective.

We enjoy the night life at RM a lot more, particularly the outdoor lobby bar and lounge area. We enjoy being outside in the evening and really enjoy the large outdoor bar at RM with the hightop bar tables, couches, etc. Its a very popular gathering spot, particularly after dinner when the bands are playing. Pearl's small indoor lobby bar (10 bar stools facing a wall) and rows of couches/ottomans simply doesn't appeal to us. In our experience both the disco and lobby at Pearl were generally deserted by midnight. The lobby bar at RM can be busy at 2:00 and 3:00AM and later. Love hanging out there late night, sometimes after the hottub, for the pizza, BLT's, tacos, etc. In terms of the hottubs, RM's hottub has plenty of room for the late night crowd and we find the smaller size preferable late-night.

Nice review and spot on in our opinion. We are just the opposite, this will be our 14th trip to Pearl and two previous trips to RM. We are 60 and 58 now, so the older crowd at Pearl is more comfortable for us.

People have complained about the music in the disco at Pearl for many years. Management doesn't care period. That resort could be at a quarter occupancy and they still wouldn't change it. Maybe the DJ is the owner’s son or something like that. No matter, we’ve stopped complaining simple because it falls on deaf ears. Until that’s the sole reason that people stop coming to the resort, it won’t change. The DJ can’t read the crowd, or just plays what he wants and has no idea whatsoever what his job is. For us, it’s the weakest link in the chain, and yes, he should go home… :x :x

Agree with westcpl. He was actually playing some pretty good dancing stuff one night, where the majority of the ladies were sexily groovin with their men, and then right it in the middle of it, it stops and Bon Jovi Livin on a Prayer comes on. Nothin against them, but it was soooo out of place. Most of the people cleared out and it wasn't even that late. Yeah he probably wanted to get out of there. Too bad management doesn't respond or yes, maybe they don't care. Weak link is right.

When the DJ starts playing weird music we go and ask for our favorites. He usually has them cued up after a couple more of his are played

We've probably been to Pearl and RM a combined 20 times. We enjoy both and frequent both.

Pearl evenings usually go like this - lobby entertainment from 930-1030. Show in the disco from 1030-1050 or 1055. Entertainment staff gets the crowd on the dance floor and makes their exit by 11 or 1105. Disco clears out for the most part between 1130 and midnight, with most heading over to the jacuzzi. Contrary to another post, the jacuzzi at Pearl really does make a difference on when people leave. It's a bigger, better jacuzzi than at RM with more seating, more "space" to get away from the crowd if you want and a better bar setup. There were fewer beds around the jacuzzi at Pearl than at RM, but all of the beds at Pearl are "front row" for the jacuzzi, so they are more in demand.
