Room choice questions

Hello!
First time poster here. My husband and I will be visiting Desire Pearl in Oct 2019. We reserved an oceanview room. I have knee issues that may make being on upper floors an issue. Is there any way to get a first floor room? How does that even work? We booked through orbitz.
TIA! :)

Two weeks before your trip you can pre register and request a certain type of room, i.e. ground floor. They will try to accommodate you.

Thank you for the info. Do they email you with instructions how to pre register?

Here is a link for the express check in:

https://www.desire-experience.com/resorts/desire-riviera-maya-pearl-resort/express-check-in/

They are very good at trying to get you want you want, but not always, so you may want to explain why you are requesting a ground level room.

I can relate... I have ALCOHOL issues that make being on upper floors an issue.

We have used the express check-in option for all of our trips, and have usually gotten the exact room we requested. However, on our most recent trip to Pearl, it was like they hadn't even looked at our request. They noted that we had "requested something", but they were not able to accommodate our request. I guess it never hurts to follow up in advance to ensure they looked at your request.

Note: When requesting rooms on what we call the first floor in the US, make sure you use the term "ground floor" or something similar. The first floor in Mexico is what we would call the 2nd floor here. We got caught in that and ended up on the second floor. Luckily, they were able to move us to our exact preferred room after two days, and all was right again after that :)

regarding room choices, we've stayed in the standard ocean view and are going with junior suite for the next trip. Any feedback on the differences? Also, is it worth upgrading to with or without plunge pool? thanks in advance for any information !

Not sure if the junior suites come with a plunge pool, I always thought they are master suites. Book very early if you want a plunge pool.

One thing to keep in mind.. Master with Plunge, 2 have great ocean view and on the quite side of the pool. The other 3 are by the jacuzzi and you hear it and no breeze or view.. however at least 1 of them is zero steps, the 2 with the ocean view have steps down to the room and more steps in the room.

Hi all, I have a question... Last year, I had a ground floor, Deluxe Ocean View unit that I was able to open the slide door and walk right out to the pool. This year, we might want a unit that's not on the ground floor. Do these upper units have little balconies or anything that we can step out and enjoy coffee in the mornings? Didn't really pay attention when we were there.

Yes, all the upper rooms have balconies with a table and chairs.

All upper floor rooms have a balcony with table and chairs, master suites have a bigger size patio. I like having a drink in the balcony in the morning and do some stretching, sometimes birds may visit you.

Does anyone know whether the Ocean View Deluxe rooms #8 and #19 are on the ground floor or an upper level? I looked thru all the "room" threads but couldn't find an answer.

Both of those rooms, 8 and 19, are on the very top floor of their buildings. Lots of stairs!
