We are everyday ordinary vanilla people, curious about expanding our "horizons". We initially went to RM mainly to escape kids. However, the atmosphere has led us to be curious. I say this because this review will not have the steamy details that others have had, just simple information and thoughts and feelings.

Started with an early morning flight arriving at Cancun airport around noon:30. It looked like we arrived about the same time as 2-3 other flights and 1-2 flights already waiting in the customs lines. We had decided to try the VIP airport concierge though. After exiting the jetway, we were greeted by our "escort” Around the main customs line, right to an agent. Then to baggage claim, then he took the bags for us out to our transportation. From exiting the plane to check in at the resort was less than an hour. A little pricey but we felt it was worth it to get to the resort quicker.

Check in at the mansion was quick and easy. Room was not ready, so we got a locker at the spa, went to lunch and during lunch we were informed that our room was ready. After eating and collecting our stuff from the spa locker all settled with no hassle at all.

We really keep to ourselves and use the day to reconnect and relax on a beach bed. Work continues on the "pier", looks like they are making good progress. Still a lot of seaweed and one day the tides were coming in strong enough to get water up to and around part of the beach beds from time to time.

Food was pretty good, keeping in mind we are not going for the food, but since you have to eat it helps to have average or above food. We ate at all 3 options. It didn't seem like the dinner menus were too condensed, and no complaints about the dinners. The breakfast and lunch buffets are open, that was one of our questions after reading some reviews saying it was all a la carte.

Room service was about normal, took a little while to get and the basic menu was good. The late night menu still lacks with only the option of room service or walking all the way up front for tacos off the small grill. Off the menu there are 2 sandwiches listed (BLT, and ham and cheese) however every night we called down (3-4 nights) they always said they did not have any bacon. There were 3 pizzas listed and we ordered one the first night and the crust was barely beyond raw. After one bite I was sent to the front to get tacos. The next night we tried the menu, again no bacon and I requested crunchy crust on the pizza and it was not much better still bordering on raw. It's amazing how different the late night food is from RM to Pearl. We wish they could duplicate the RM late night bar and food area. There is not really any central location where you can sit at a bar/drink/talk/and get food "after hours" at Pearl. We really miss that because the evenings we set aside to really mingle and talk to people and sometimes it would be nice to not have to be in the hot tub to do that.

We chose to talk to a representative about our membership. We were told they couldn't eat with guests anymore or spend more than an hour with them (bonus! :) ) with the meeting we got 2 of the standard massages which were really good. We also used the hot tub, steam room, and sauna at the spa which were very relaxing.

Room was great (Master), still not sure why the 2 rooms with one just being a "living room", but we enjoy having the 2 bathrooms. This year we were on the second floor which ended up being great. We really liked the ground floor rooms so we could leave our sliding door unlocked and not worry about our room key. But at some point between our visits they went with the bracelets being "chipped" to open the room so no keys are needed any more.

We scheduled our Covid test for the day before we left. Took longer to walk to the spa than to get the tests and paperwork done. At check out we asked and they printed off the results for us.

The staff as always was amazing. The foam party was fun as always. We enjoyed seeing and talking to several familiar faces and making new friends. We love the atmosphere and how nice everyone is. Being able to be "alone" and reconnect or socialize and make new friends makes the Desire destinations our choice.

I know I spent a lot of time on the late night food but that is the only thing that brings our rating down from a 10 to a 9. We say if late night food is the worst thing about the resort and trip everything is pretty good. And it was amazing like always. We have already booked for next November (our definite time) and are looking at the calendar for time to squeeze in additional trips.
