First timer report July 3-9, 2025

We just got back from our first Desire vacation, and because this forum was so helpful in prepping and planning our trip - I wanted to give back with a trip report. I’ve never done one before and I don’t know that anything in this report will be different than what people have already said - but it at least it might be confirmation for someone who is searching for info.

I’m skipping over the travel and arrival stuff. It’s standard - no matter where you’re coming from, or even where you’re going. Our flights were all delayed, and it was a miracle that we made it on the day we were supposed to arrive. One thing to note is that I prepaid the airport/hotel transfer up front and while I updated them as to our arrival time and also had Desire contact them to make sure we were still on schedule (and they said we were) - we waited over an hour at the Cancun airport for our ride to arrive. It was pretty frustrating after a long day of traveling.

But of course that all goes away once you’re there. Check-in was fairly quick and they wanted to setup a time to discuss the membership options, but I put them off and it was received gracefully and professionally. They showed us directly to our room and our luggage showed up shortly after that.

My wife and I have been to nude places before, but never anything more than that. The voyeur and exhibitionism opportunities at Desire were intriguing and also the opportunity for her to dress as sexy as she dared without worrying about what is “appropriate.” So even though we arrived tired, we weren’t going to miss Neon night and the opportunity to dress up sexy for dinner.

We understood what attire could be worn for dinner based on input from this web site, but theme nights were a little confusing because people come to the lobby for theme night, dancing, and the band/show. But when we check-in in they said the resort is clothing optional except for restaurants, and the lobby. So based on the idea that “if you can’t fit it in one hand it’s too much”, and based on what my wife brought to wear - how could you wear theme night attire in the lobby? The only thing I could come up with was the you couldn’t be naked in the lobby in the daytime. But at night, it didn’t seem to matter? There were no issues with what my wife wore - or others who were missing clothing items. I know one of the best things about Desire is that everyone can participate at their own level/interest, but it would be fun if more people participated in “can’t wear at home” attire for dinner and theme nights. It was about 60/40 for theme nights, but maybe only 30/70 for dinner. I’m sure that changes week-by-week as well.

We both participated in every theme night, and that was 6 nights. Dressing in theme clothing is not something that is up my alley at all. Not even a little bit. But since my wife was all in and wearing next to nothing - I felt the need to support her and participate. It was a lot of fun and she got complimented every night by someone - and we appreciated that. She also dressed very sexy for every dinner and most of the time had a hard time keeping all her bits covered with something - much to everyone’s delight.

We made use of the jacuzzi beds many times, day and night. We never stayed up late at the jacuzzi so I can’t speak for what was happening at that point in time, but our room actually overlooked the jacuzzi and it looked like everyone was having a great time and for the most part the noise was kept under control so our room location wasn’t ever an issue.

The food was excellent. Every place we ate, we thoroughly enjoyed. The staff work hard to provide you everything you want and we can’t speak highly enough of each one. Shelia, Victor, Gabi, Miranda, Joshua, Oliver, and many more whose name I can’t remember. I tipped many of them and it was because I wanted to and they deserved it, versus I felt like it was expected. I think they would provide exactly the same service even if I wasn’t tipping.

I’m sure there’s more I could say, but you get the drift hopefully. It was a very special trip that my wife and I were both a little nervous about, but it brought us even closer than we thought possible. Not that there was anything wrong before / nor were we going for any specific purpose. It’s just that Desire has a super sexy vibe that can drive you closer to the one you love. We can’t wait to go back.

We always use, US Transfers. Always there.

We booked through the resort and it was Adventour. We’d never used them before and never will again. I thought there might be an advantage to booking through Desire, but I don’t think there was. We’ve always booked USA Transfers before and that’s what I’ll go back to doing.

Some clarification on a common point of confusion. When they say no nudity in the lobby, they are referring to the area where you check in with the business desks. That doesn't refer to the "lobby bar" area in front of the disco. That area is clothing optional.

Thanks for commenting on this. We actually went for our second trip in August and got a better feel. On our first visit the new stage and event area wasn't completed, so they did the theme night events in the actual lobby. It was a little crowded, but worked. This meant that many times people nude or almost nude and that was throwing me off. Now that've been back with the regular stage area open, it makes more sense. But you're right about the lobby bar area - that can be confusing too.

I have to say, having been to both DRM and Pearl, I really like Pearl! Not sure if I posted this before or was just thinking of posting but never did but Pearl is a standout. It is different from DRM. dean is busier and more of a party atmosphere which is great. Pearl is more chill. In terms of age, get that stuff out of your head. DRM probably on the ‘younger’ side Beto’s the newer crowd coming to check out but that’s it. I felt we were able to connect to people at pearl better. And I like to pool at pearl where everyone is together, probably reminiscent of the old DRM days pre Eden. The staff at pearl are amazing as are DRM but Pearl had overall a more intimate feel, but a little more dated because it didn’t have the. Ew Eden area. But we love it.
Beaches - better at DRM, more beach space near the volley ball area and in front of the bigger rooms. At pearl, not much anymore , the seaweed was really stinky but that gave us privacy because no one was there due to the odor. I think what mattered to us was our ability to connect better with others at Pearl but naybe that is just an us thing. Don’t get me wrong, I really like DRM, just a different vibe and especially the place I want to go to if I want to party
