Desire Trip Report 2015—June 8-16

This report will be shared by installments. The week was so incredible, full of fond memories, that it would not justify asking anyone to read the novel in one sitting.

USA Transfers was on time, meeting us at the airport, cheerful chatter on the way. “Welcome home” was the greeting, of course, once we stepped onto the resort grounds, luggage handled, and a cool towel followed by a glass of champagne placed into our hands. Our room was ready and after settling in, we disrobed and walked gingerly to the pool, greeted by a few friends we had made last year.

The resort was beautiful, as always! The air conditioning situation in the main lobby is in the works, and nearly complete. The pond has been cleaned and renovated. The staff is always smiling and cheerful. Victor was there ready to find us our usual place on the beach, he remembered us, to lounge in the afternoon. It wasn’t long before we found ourselves heading over to the Jacuzzi, since we had arrived in the afternoon, there was only a short time to be spent in the pool. The new bartender Daylan, at the Jacuzzi, soon became the crowd’s friend, delighting some of us with his skill at juggling the plastic bottles of liqueurs, and always wearing the biggest smile.

Soon it was dinner time. The food…oh my….beyond words, delicious! If there is something you crave that is not on either the buffet or on the menu, the chef will create your appetite’s desire.

Our first night, we made it to the disco. Let me tell you, Dare to Bare, Bare as you Dare night was exciting. Tommer had to assist me in climbing into the red strappy number that I had to re-sew when I got it in the mail (as the seamstress did not stitch it together correctly). It took him 30 minutes to get me into the outfit , and we were off to the dance! What fun! The entertainment was spectacular. The music was from the Fifty Shades of Grey, a hauntingly passionate soundtrack, and the dancers’ skills were top notch. I have a background in dance (tap, jazz, ballet), and have an appreciation for the performance and practice involved. The crowd was impressed.

On a side note, the one thing that was not fabulous, but showed effort on the part of the resort: the music at the disco. It was obvious they had made changes. There was variety, some 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and so on. What the crowd had agreed upon by week’s end, was that the ‘boom, boom, boom’, associated with rave music, I understand, was what made the d.j.’s music track not worthy of dancing to for more than a few songs. It seemed as though he simply pushed ‘play’, and the ‘boom, boom’ overwhelmed the soundtracks. On a positive note, the live bands that performed before the disco were wonderful!

Today I will share a little about our time in the disco and other daily activities:

The entertainment: top notch! We were at Desire Pearl this trip for 8 days, and the live bands were talented and the music varied. There was music from almost every genre, including a reggae sound on the rainy Sunday/Monday afternoons, where staff hired this ‘band on call’ and provided games for all to play: jenga, casino games, scrabble… The bands that performed in the lobby prior to the disco were excellent. Latin, contemporary, and even opera-like serenading, were on the menu.

As mentioned in the first installment, the dancers performing in the disco every night were phenomenal. The disco was exciting due to the costumes worn by the ladies. We all were curious how daring and sexy the other would be, and encouraged each other to be more daring. Our hubbies were thrilled, of course. I will never forget the theme night of naughty school girl/professor! A friend told me she’d bring a ruler, to spank any naughty students, and yes…I was in trouble! She had shared with me before we landed in Mexico, that she’d be wearing two wigs on different nights, and we were encouraging each other to be more sexy than the year before. So, I had purchased a long-haired brunette wig, packed it without my hubby’s knowledge, and surprised him….I came out of the bathroom, dressed in the open-cupped mischievous school girl outfit as a brunette! His jaw dropped. We walked to the disco, and when entering, our friends were also shocked….who is this wayward schoolgirl?! What fun! Anyway, that’s one of the ‘pearls’ of Desire….discovering your playful, sexy, self. When we left the disco for the hot tub, my hubby said, ‘Honey, will you please take off that wig? I miss my Julie!’ Awwww………..

Let’s mention the activities of the daytime, which included some of the familiar: water aerobics, yoga by the pool, and unusual poolside competitions. The foam party, the familiar, was a first for us, and a definite highlight. For part of the event, Tommer hoisted me upon his shoulders, and we scooted through the foam like a submarine. Other times we volleyed a wayward beach ball or blow up doll across the foam. Yes, the blow up doll who dons the attire for theme night, usually resting at the side of the pool with the list of daily events, made it in the pool! There were bright green jello shots passed out by Vincent, and kool aid flavored liqueurs pouring freely upon those wishing to partake, served by Liz and Kia. No one got hurt, there were smiles and laughs, and plenty of bubbles!

Another new activity during the rainy day was put on by Liz: sexual work shop, rekindle the flame. This was labeled as a way to reconnect with your significant other. It turned out to be a most delightful and sensual, erotic even, massage class…The first half of the class us ladies were to massage the feet of our partners, being told in a manner that is conducive to the sensual atmosphere (not a tone of a teacher—thank goodness), that one connects the sexiness of one’s nature through the soles of the feet. Without ruining this experience for others, this is an experience to plan on attending. Each couple has a turn at massaging their significant other, and even the experienced learn something new that deepens the connection. This pleasurable treat lasted for nearly two hours, and all of us were shocked that much time flew by…

We did the same thing! Saw a sexy (admittedly cheap) wig online and ordered it. It looked ridiculous when she tried it on and we were ROFLing. Oh well.

Pole dancing….and pool stories from June 8th-16th:

Pole dancing was offered on a rainy afternoon in the disco, by Liz. Initially, I was the only one brave enough to try. Yea--more friends and new friends came to the rescue, and there were six of us who ventured in to learn this art. Thanks to you, my wonderful dear friends!!! You know who you are. Following us daring ladies into the disco were our husbands/significant others. Liz instructed them to be quiet, unless they were cheering us on! They all wore huge grins, and did not have a problem cheering us on! Every lady should try this at least once, with her partner in the audience. Whee! It's like dancing and flying, and feeling sexy. Liz told us that in an hour, we could burn off 800 calories! She was kind, sexy and encouraging, which made us feel comfortable learning and dancing in front of our entranced audience. Yes!

Pool stories begin with the fun of taking a water aerobics class. Everyone should try this at least one time. My hubby did this year, and enjoyed it! Depending on which staff leads the fun, each class takes on different twists…literally! Our class ended with a ‘human pretzel’…. Another class ended with neck massages… Do partake! Other fun we experienced in the pool included Tommer guiding me through the waters on our floatie, packed and brought with us. There were several inflatable floaties that seemed to be available for use by anyone, however, in case you do not bring your own. I would ask staff about those, but they seemed to be shared by all.

Pool shock! Tommer had found a phallic squirt gun, while we were out and about one day in our home town, and asked if we should bring it to Desire….last year. We forgot! So…we packed it and brought it out this year. We asked the pool bartender to fill it with tequila, which he did with a smile. You can imagine the laughs, cheers, and giggles that arose. We took turns finding those desiring a squirt! For a spell, I was on the floatie, holding the phallic toy between my knees, and tooling down the pool. We interrupted a volleyball game, passed the squirter to Vincent, who shot someone, and it was passed back to us. What we could NOT have predicted was that this theme would be paralleled with the theme from “Jaws” (the movie of some time ago). As I was floating quietly a few feet from the swim up bar, while Tommer went to retrieve a margarita for me, one of our new friends decided to ‘kill it’!!! He jumped in the pool beside me and tackled the ‘shark’, took it under the water, and kept saying to kill it, to protect the ladies from the attack! Woo hoo! After returning the deceased ‘shark’, he got out of the pool, circled the bar, asked the bartender for a weapon, and was handed an extra large cucumber. He smacked the end of the bar, ‘kill it’, and threw the offending cucumber into the pool, where a couple of us teased about other uses. Ha! We all got a tremendous laugh from this ‘activity’ our friend delighted us by performing. Mr. “Everybody’s Doing It”—Tommer, did you know ‘everybody’s doing it’? LOL!

We never did get to exchange emails to keep in touch with him and his lovely wife, but hope to see them next year for more fun.

The Mrs. here...I am a girl who loves to dance. Love. It. Yet, I've never been brave enough to step up to that pole. Maybe I'm going to let myself be one of your friends who steps up with you...(Even if it is on a later trip)... And gives it a try.

Mrs. Travel couple, I hope that the day we visit Pearl to say hello, they have the pole dance class! We'll have to check the daily activity schedules! If not tis time, then next year! We will return to Pearl June 9-17th. We are booking very, very, soon!

Thanks for posting the reports, mrstommer! So glad we could be there together again this year. Reading your reports has been quite enjoyable; it's fun to relive all the great memories. Your pole dancing skills are quite impressive! I may just have to give that a try when we are back next June!

Sushi Retaurant…and more

Dining is exquisite at Pearl, and with the new restaurant opening this year, we were thrilled to secure a reservation at the new Sushi restaurant. Interesting story with this, as well. When we made the reservation, we were not yet members of Original Resorts. We had attended the sales meeting about membership, received the discount booklet, and decided not to join in the past. This year, however, with the help of our friends, who had previously attended and became members, we, too became members. Much pool talk and Jacuzzi chat supported all of us, and many of our friends, with us, joined this year. So………becoming members gives us a butler. On the night when we had made a reservation, our butler (seriously?!) (wow!!!), found us in the pool and asked if we wanted to attend a ‘wine pairing’ for dinner. Wine pairing? This was a treat! We accepted, and asked about the Sushi reservation. The butler (wow!) said he would reschedule this for us, for the next night, if we desired. (wow!) We attended the wine pairing with our friends from Canada, who helped us maneuver the sales pitch, and new friends (one couple was Mr. and Mrs. “Everybody’s Doin’ It” ☺ ). This was delectable and not to be missed! We were given a sample of the Mexican wines to complement the taste of the chef’s specially prepared meats, ranging from pork, to steak, to seafood…..and desert. Mmmmmm……this delicious review leads me to tell about the Sushi experience. My hubby had never tried sushi before, but promised he would try it at Desire. The offerings were amazing. Outside of the rooftop restaurant, small and elegant, was a fabulous martini bar. He ordered a martini to accompany dinner, I a Merlo. The dinner he selected was not the typical seafood sushi, but rather a steak option. He definitely loved it. My seafood selection was superb! The view at night while dining was romantic….the dep blues of the ocean, white foam waves, the warmly lit dining room, and top notch service, delicious meals…and of course, a small and tasty desert for us to share!

Do not miss the Sushi restaurant.

In interest of time this morning, I have to be going somewhere right now….tommer reminds me to be on time (my friends know that without him, I would be forever late)……..I will resume this review later!
