We just returned from wonderful 5 night trip at Pearl

Observations: We would estimate that the resort was 40% full during the week and 70% on weekend. The resort was very clean. The staff was amazing from the cleaning people to the chefs. They are trying very hard to make sure your vacation is a pleasant experience. The food is plentiful and should satisfy the majority of the guest. We find that breakfast and lunch are very good and Dinner is very nice but nothing special.

We are ocean people and lay in there beds everyday. The ocean was very nice and the sargassum was there but a young man raked every morning to keep it off the beach

The few time we go to the pool there chairs were mostly filled and the crowd seemed very happy chatting away . ( Music is just too much for us ).

The massage people kept hawking the beach asking for you to take a massage.
If you take a short walk to Puerto Morelos you can get a massage for $40.00.

The Jacuzzi was warm and very inviting. A little bit of playing in the beds. The drinks were flowing and it was a great way to end the day and mingle.

night show were very good and a lot of fun.

There were plenty of opportunity to mingle and play with the others.

Not sure we like the bracelet color system, but I'm sure they have their reasons.

All in all a great trip

Here is how we approached pearl this time. We took a later flight out on NYC ( plane was empty ) Spent the night at a airport hotel. Hotel was super clean and the food was good. In the morning we took a cab to pearl. We arrived well rested and enjoyed the first day.

I visit this forum sporadically, and haven't seen anything about the "colored bracelets"...can you elaborate on that?

It’s the bracelets they ask guests to wear to make sure they are guests which is standard in the industry.

Not sure what all colors mean but yellow is for first time, I think brown is member, red is mansion, I’ve also seen white I think.

Yes and no.

The yellow allows new guests to be identified which - for the resort POV - means they know who to provide support to and whom to solicit.

The same applies foe the additional colors as it allows for various perks to “appear” for guests who have bought into that program.

For us it’s also been an occasional conversation starter.

The white ones are for returning guests. I also saw black bracelets and believe they were for those individuals that bought a membership. I can see the pros and cons.

It’s both a status thing and an icebreaker. Yellow bands (first timers) are easy to spot for both guests and staff so they know who might need some help. White is those who have been more than once. Gold is membership and red is mansion. The gold and red are status, and rightfully so for the folks that spend that kinda money. Yellow and white is more just a conversation starter; the yellow bands get by far the most attention.

We are 1st timers. Girlfriend very nervous. Not sure this bracelet thing will help, just make things worse for her anxiety.

Keep in mind, the main point of the bracelets is to confirm to the staff and security that you are a guest of the resort. That's for everyone's safety and privacy. Add to that, the yellow first-timer bracelet makes a great ice breaker for conversation. That said, it is not like everyone is walking around looking at bracelets. There are much more pleasing things to observe.

Nobody cares (in a negative way). Just relax and talk to people like they are...people.

The bracelets are more for the staff than anyone else.

From my experience:

Yellow - First Timers.
White - Repeat guests who are not members.
Blue - Day pass from the other resort.
Silver - Penthouse guest who is not a member.
Black - Early members.
Gold - Normal current member. If you join today, you get a gold band.
Red - Mansion member.

The cool thing about the red Mansion bracelet is that it has your room key imbedded in the bracelet. No need to carry your key card around with you. We've told them they should do that with all the rooms. We've been told that it's in "experiment mode" and they might do that if everyone likes it. Personally, I love it. It's really handy when you come and go from your room totally naked, which we do most of the time. However, I suppose it might be a bit more difficult to unlock your room for those that have their bracelet on their ankle. Just sayin'

Actually in my opinion the yellow bracelet is a good thing. I have a tendency to speak to couples with yellow bracelets that seem off to the side. It is an ice breaker and often first timers are full of questions but afraid to ask or mingle. The best part of Desire is meeting great new people. BTW I’m pretty sure everyone is nervous their first time, I know I was! Tell your girlfriend to relax, smile and enjoy herself. She’ll have a great time.

We were there at same time. It seemed more crowded than Rm,, We were happy to find another way into mansion, Last time was up and down too many stairs..

Yes we loved the new entry way as well. After all we ate the stairs were much needed exercise, but got so tiresome when there was a better route
