January 2021 trip Part1 Pearl
Posted: Wed Feb 10, 2021 8:54 pmThis will be a two part trip report. We spent Jan.21 until Jan.28 in Pearl and then transferred to Rm on Jan.28 until Feb.4. Part two of our trip report will be found under the RM trip reports. We were originally scheduled to be at Desire for 2 weeks in December or 2020 but had put a halt to our plans in August with not knowing about going to a foreign country with covid concerns. We both did contract the virus somehow in November and recovered just fine. Now that we had been told by the state health dept. that we should have the antibodies to keep us safe for at least 90 days we rescheduled our trip to go in January so we could be there for International Swingers Month.
Our direct flight from Minneapolis was flawless. We landed a few minutes ahead of schedule but another plane was parked at our gate so we sat on the tarmac for at least a half hour waiting for them to clear the other plane out of our way. When we headed for immigration the crowd was unreal. We ended up standing on the escalator because the immigration area was packed with tourists. 2 1/2 hours later we went looking for USA transfers and they had to call our ride in because we were so much later than scheduled. Our driver did an excellent job of getting our luggage sanitized and we got into the vehicle and made excellent time on our way to the resort. We were directed to the mansion and Diego got us checked in and advised us of all we would need to know. The returning guest supper was that evening in the courtyard area of the mansion.
We got to the room and unpacked the necessities and watched a bit of porn until it was time to get dressed for dinner. We met some really great couples that evening and started some friendships that we hope we can keep alive for years to come.
We had breakfast each morning of our stay at the mansion restaurant. Following that we would head for our chairs around the main pool. Both of us would then hit the pool and walk laps in the pool for some exercise to offset all the eating and drinking that was going to be a part of our days and nights at Desire. Walking the pool gave us a great chance to introduce ourselves to people as we went by. We call it speed dating. So many names to remember.
The resort was fairly full and we enjoyed the dances and the shows every night we were there. But with Jan. 26 being the date for the CDC rules of needing a negative covid test to be able to board a plane to return to the US, the resort started to empty out in a hurry. We had only one restaurant open each evening for our meals and our lunch during the day was no longer a buffet but we ordered off a menu. Despite this the meals were exceptional and the servers were even more attentive. We really had personal service. They really appreciated us being there as much as we appreciated their kindness.
Many people have asked us about our opinion of the mansion. We really enjoyed it. There is a great swim up pool and bar and the playroom on the upper floor is as nice as anything we have seen. The downside we can see if you are a couple like us that travels by ourselves we usually end up meeting a new set of friends on each trip so we choose to spend most of our time in the main pool or hot tub, so it felt like we didn't utilize the mansion to it's fullest.
The weather was perfect during the weekdays of our stay. Sunny and warm. There were a couple nights it got a little chilly. One night even the hot tub didn't keep everyone warm so we moved the party to the mansion swim up. Again it was amazing that out of nowhere a bartender showed up and kept the drinks flowing for us.
We have to extend many thanks to the staff at Desire for making this trip as special as our other trips. We will be back for trip number 6 as soon as possible.
