8 night August trip
We've been almost two dozen times, so no need to recap the daily activities. The Desire staff remain undefeated in their service and attempts to make our vacation as sterling as possible. Zero complaints about any of the wonderful staff.
And really, not many complaints otherwise, either. Just a few observations:
1. As others have mentioned, the beach is no more. The sargassum is causing the pool to collect a film around the rim of the water and they have a few folks scrubbing it down continuously. It's also turning silver jewelry into another color (bronze, which you have cleaned at the gift shop, or similarly when you return home). If you go 1/4 mile down the beach toward PM, the beaches are fine. We have not gotten a satisfactory answer why the beach at Pearl is so bad compared to anywhere else nearby. This really does need to be fixed (but I offer no suggestions as I don't know the ramifications)
2. Occupancy from Sunday- Wed was probably 50%. And prices next year, same time are WAAAAY higher than this year. How's that gonna work?
3. Still dismayed at the music selection in the Pearl disco. It's basically the same music every night. You've got 75-85% US / Canadians and maybe 15-25% Latin guests and every night after 3-4 songs, it turns to Latin music, which is fine once in a while. You're not running folks off the dance floor to go buy expensive drinks, so play to the crowd. Most are 45+, so 80's, 90's, disco, mix...anything we can sing and dance to. It's so frustrating people always say the disco at Pearl is lame......gee, I wonder why. PLAY BETTER MUSIC and we'll stick around. Country Neon night...don't think I heard a country song outside of the show at Melange. I don't get it.
4. Food was fine. Reservations plentiful, choice of restaurant not an issue.
5. 80's party on Friday was a BLAST. Everyone dancing in the pool, singing along. When you play the right music, people stick around and enjoy it. Novel idea.
6. Wet services in spa still free for members. Truly hope this remains.
7. Did not sit in on Premier pitch. Heard rumors they're saying theyre in process of buying land for expansion. Will obviously take years, but hope we don't go the way of RM and lose that boutique feel.
8. Most folks were naked. Saw several full bikinis and various trunks on guys, but majority went bare.
9. Hot tub was all over the place temperature wise. Two nights it was boiling hot. Two nights it was actually cold (like, no heat). Weird. Consistency would be lovely there and not hard to regulate.
10. Another amazing trip. Back to RM in Nov.
