Day 1 - we could not be happier. Although not ALL of the amenities are operational ( finishing touches on a bar and hot tub not up to temp yet) the staff has gone out of their way to make sure that all of our needs are met! We simply could not ask for anything more. The food we had for lunch was awesome and we learned that Guido, the chef from RM is now here!
So far we feel like its money we'll spent...

I'll post more in the coming days. We were told we were couple #5 to check in this morning!

Update #2

Postby feelsgood » Sun Apr 01, 2012 4:51 pm

We had a few issues with our room that were quickly handled by the staff. Every single one of the workers has gone out of their way to help with anything and everything.
The jacuzzi has been giving them fits but after having every pool man in Cancun on site (it seems), they have it running again and it's getting warmer.
They seem to be having issues in the dining areas as it can sometimes take a while to get your food. I think it is more of a server issue than a kitchen issue. The menus are very fusion styled...and there is not a lot of "regular" food on the menu. They will gladly make you a hamburger or sandwich or even quesadillas, but you have to ask and if you happen to get one of the servers that doesn't speak a lot of English, this can be a chore.
The food is good though...no complaints there.
The entertainment staff has been awesome and has gotten everyone involved in the activities.
We have not been to the disco yet. We plan to try it tonight...stay tuned.

Update 3

Postby feelsgood » Tue Apr 03, 2012 1:23 pm

Sitting nekkid on the beach typing this one.

Yes, they have pool volleyball, pool basketball and beach volleyball. The pool is quite large and well spread out. It seems that most of the lounge chairs by the pool and beach beds fill up quite early. By that I mean, people toss their stuff on them and usually do not appear for hours, if at all. You can usually get a lounge chair on the beach and if you try hard enough, one by the pool. It's just a silly way of allowing people to reserve themselves a bed but we figure that happens everywhere.

Now for our real disappointments...

No PORN on the tv...wtf?? On the bright side, there are working DVD players in the room so bring your own!

Restaurants....ugh...as we stated before, the menus are very fru-fru and difficult to imagine exactly what it is u are ordering. The menu does not change....so there is no variety from night to night. If you are unlucky enough to not like one or two items on the menu, you are not going to be very happy. They have figured out at lunch time that they need to add some "regular" items. They have pizza, chicken, hamburgers and fries....but in the evening, they haven't figured it out yet. We were fortunate last night that we had a waiter that understood our disappointment and he went and spoke to the chef. He came back and asked us if we wanted fish, chicken or beef and told us the chef would make us something special. We said beef and we both received an incredible bacon wrapped filet with potatoes and veggies that was to die for. But we certainly don't want to be or expect to be "those" special people every night.
Other than that, we are happy campers. Four days into this and the staff is just as willing to please us as they were when we arrived. Overall...we would definitely return.
We have heard some people moaning about how long they waited to get their food, or how there is too much foot traffic walking by on the beach or just about anything else you can imagine. We haven't seen more foot traffic than the other place and the security is freakin amazing. One walker-by was taking pictures and the staff pounced, got the camera, made sure the pics were deleted. We have just decided that these people that are moaning and groaning would probably be moaning and groaning at ANY resort they would be at.
Hit the disco last night. It really is a nicely laid out venue. Everyone had a great time and danced the night away. We did not try the "sin room" but it is nicely done as well.

On a side note, the first three days and nights the owner was on property with some friends. His big ass boat was docked at the pier and the staff was turning cartwheels trying to make sure him and his friends were taken care of. It was a little disheartening that he would command so much more attention than his paying guests. It was more disheartening seeing him not really care if he was taking the attention away from his guests. When he would show up at the restaurant, there was always three or four people waiting on him as well as a manager or two. He never even smiled at any guests let alone have a conversation with them. A simple thank you for coming are you enjoying yourself would have been sufficient. But it was clear that this am couldn't care less about anyone but himself and his friends...he would have served this place better by not showing up on opening weekend but whatever, it's his kingdom!
that's about all my alcohol induced foggy brain can think of right now. I plan to enjoy the day. Hope you do too!

Thanks so much for taking the time to send out a little info to all of us...........who are sitting back here wishing we could be there.
It sounds as if you are saying that the facilities themselves and the service are everything you expected ? If so, that is the really important thing to many of us-we expect the facilities to be good enough to justify the price.
We did expect there to many some minor issues and adjustments to be made in the first few months- you simply can't anticipate everything and they will note and act on the guests comments quickly-we assume- as the original Desire did.

Yes...the facilities and the service are worth the price. We were actually just talking about it and we feel the property is nicer than RM. it feels a little bit more luxurious and well the rooms are huge. We are in a Master suite and it has 2 full bathrooms, a large seating area/living room and an over large bedroom that we would have been more than happy with without adding all the other space. This spa seems nice although the only thing we have done there is use the gym. If you are a gym rat, you will find that their weight system, dumb bells and aerobic machines leave a lot to be "desired" (no pun intended) but we were still able to get full workouts in...you just have to be creative.
Ok...back to the art of doing absolutely nothing!
