Trip February 2013

Just came back. Low occupancy, probably around 50 pc. I noticed an improvement in food quality. Traffic on the beach was really frustrating. Parents with little kids, all watching up at the guests lying on the beds. Nothing that security can do about it. they just made sure that nobody took pictures. No problem, we have the pool which was really refreshing and big enought to accomodate everybody.
Service excellent as usual.
Remember dress code at the main restaurant!
Activities at the pool were fun and kept us busy until hot tube time. Excellent hot tube and plenty of space. The water was maybe a little too hot for daytime, however at night was the right temperature. The most number of people i have seen in the hot tube was 14.
One in all, we will be back asap.

Thanks for the short and sweet trip report! We're more 'concerned' about the guests taking photos (anyone with a hand-held device around the pool can take pics  ) than the people on the beach, but it's good to know the staff try and do something about it. Good to hear the food is great.

What is the shade situation like? Lots of it or do they need more or is this even an issue?

Thanks again! :D

It's disappointing to hear of the traffic from non-Desire guests.

I had hoped to enjoy the palapa beds and the ocean nude and without the gawking eyes of many children and/or adults that disapproved of nudity.

Where are they coming from and where are they headed? Isn't the beach south of Pearl fairly undeveloped?

We were there in Sept, and 'traffic' along the beach was light - but steady through the day. Didn't seem that anyone cared, especially since we saw a fairly large number of topless / nude women laying on the beach in front of other resorts.

Pearl is at the edge of town - a very short walk to the town square - so people from the other resorts walk there / people from town walk to work at the other resorts...

Mid-January beach traffic was so heavy they needed passing lanes!

Last June, we saw only a couple of adults and no children at Pearl. We hope for the same fewer numbers of wonderers this upcoming June when we return to Pearl.

We were at Pearl in January.
We did have a great time.
The service was very good - both at the pool by Jared and as well by the bar.

The hotel is only 20 minutes walk from the town(Puerto Morelos) center. We saw people all the time walking by but who cares. I never saw anyone using a camera.
We went into the town(Puerto Morelos) several times. We also hired a car for 24 hours at a rental service near the town square - only 40 dollars and drove down to Tulum beach. A fantastic beach - one of the best I have seen.
Coming from Sweden we did have 24 hours door to door to come to the hotel and we did have a fantastic time. Go for it.

Why would parents subject their kids to "our" beach? They see the signs and yet continue to walk them thru. I dont get it, there are plenty of places to walk your kids, why in front of "our" places (both Pearl and RM)?
Just wondering.

Tony
- the citizens committee of Puerto Morelos forced Desire Pearl to take down the signs on each end of the Pearl beach warning of nudity on the Pearl beach.
their "reasoning" was that the signs where keeping tourists from the large hotels to the north of Pearl from walking the beach into PM to shop and spend money.

So now it is just a surprise to those walking from the large hotels to the north of Pearl going to PM via the beach - duh !

Huh? Didn't know it was 'our' beach as you put it. The beaches are public in Mexico; anyone can walk on them, and if you are staying at one of the resorts to the North East and want to walk to town (as lot's of people do) the only real way is along the beach.
They are probably wondering what 'We' are doing naked on 'Their' public beach...
