Wedding Woes & TR Jan. 13 > 20, 2014

My partner and I decided to try Desire Pearl as we have been to many all inclusive resorts in the past but wanted our wedding to be held at a small, intimate resort. We wanted to experience a clothing optional setting and had read a huge amount of information on this resort and thought it would be ideal for our wedding in paradise. After much research we thought Desire Pearl would be able meet and/or exceed our expectations. We read on your website that weddings can be accommodated and that all of our needs would be taken care of. We booked with confidence that we could prepare ourselves to meet the legal requirements of getting married in Mexico. Shortly thereafter we contacted the resort by email and by telephone to ensure that we were on track with our wedding plans. We received an email after a few days from the resort explaining that we needed to email "weeing@originalresorts.com". We sent out an email message right away but received a notice from the postmaster that the message was undeliverable. We again emailed guest services at the resort and was told we would be contacted directly by Eva ???????????????? who was cc'ed in the message by guest services. We waited and waited but received no response from Eva. At this point we felt we had to abort our wedding plans because we had tried and tried to arrange our wedding to no avail. Our group of 8 other couples were contacted and told not to book this resort because our wedding plans were not coming together and that we were going to make alternate plans for our wedding for the fall of 2014.

We went to this resort from Jan. 13 to Jan. 20, 2014 as we had already booked in early November 2013. Upon arrival we told the front desk person our disappointment with the resort's response to our wedding plans. He was quite apologetic and asked us if we could show him the messages that had been sent between ourselves and the resort. We had planned to do this prior to leaving the resort. We were then escorted to the Concierge Desk and met Naty who was very friendly and she quickly went over information, gave us coupons and set up a followup date to see how we could come back to the resort at great discounts. We were confused and didn't understand what she was getting to. We thought she wanted to meet with us to discuss our departure times, etc. Later, when we met with her we again told her our story of our wedding woes and she told us that the resort could accommodate our wedding if we chose to come back to the resort. Subsequently we met with a young salesperson and realized Naty was giving us a sales pitch for a timeshare. Again, we brought our wedding woes to the salesperson and his co-worker (Adriana Calderon). She was not convinced of our story until we forwarded the emails directly to her email account. We expressed our surprise at the lack of response from the resort and advised that they had lost a significant amount of money as we were bringing 8 other couples to the resort to witness our wedding but changed our plans due to lack of response. She was going to look into this matter immediately and perhaps she did do that but we have not been contacted by the resort with as much as an apology.

My partner brought up his concerns re: our wedding to an employee at Desire Pearl. She indicated that we should have gone to Secrets to get married as this is what she had done. My partner was shocked at her comment and responded "well, you advertise weddings on your website, don't you?"

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Desire Pearl and would consider returning in the future. The employees worked hard and could not do enough to address any/all of our needs during our stay. We would like to send a special shout out to Hector in the Aphrodite Restaurant; he goes above and beyond the call of duty with a constant smile on his face.

We are both surprised and saddened that you both had to experience that on such a special occasion! We were married at the Cabo location (no longer a Desire property) and couldn't have had a more wonderful experience! Hope you do give them a second chance and things go smoothly this time.

We were planning to book Desire pearl as vow renewal venue but I am happy I got to this thread. Now we will look for other properties which are more responsive towards their customer.
