Newbie Pearl Visit July 28-31, 2014

Postby D&C » Sat Aug 09, 2014 8:35 pm

We visited Pearl from July 28 -31. This was our first trip to a CO resort, and wanted to gently slide in the shallow end instead of jumping in and being over our heads the first (possibly only) visit. After reading the many different Trip Advisor reviews, we were trying to come to a decision on which resort to try, Pearl or RM. We searched all over this forum to get the best advice and information, and decided to try out Pearl. We are not in the lifestyle, but have enjoyed each other in public places. The added benefit is it will now be in the presence of others. I will offer some details of the trip, and try to add some keywords for future newbies to research their questions.

Reservation – We booked through Expedia. C called the resort direct and found that even with the 4th night free special, Expedia still came out cheaper.

Airport Transfer – Through the forum, USA Transfers was highly recommended. We booked through the company months in advance. When we completed our early check in, the resort reminded us that airport transfer came with the penthouse reservation. After a couple of days of deliberation, we decided to try the resort transportation out. It would be a negative first impression for the resort if the transportation did not go smoothly. There was no issue in cancelling our USA Transfers reservation. Aventour is the company the resort uses, and they gave us instructions on where to meet the driver, and what they would be wearing. Since we told the resort at the last minute we would be using them, Aventour subcontracted our transportation to another company. Since they were not dressed as what was stated, D questioned his credentials. Everything checked out, and we were on our way with no issues.

Check in/Timeshare pitch – Once we arrived, we were greeted with a glass of Champaign, just as others have stated on the forum. Again, we sat down with “Chava” to go over the coupon book. We decided to book the timeshare meeting. A coupon for couples massage was worth it enough for us. We took the bottle of tequila with the Desire label home as a souvenir from the trip. We set our time for the timeshare meeting, but was called the morning of to tell us it had to be moved to later in the day. We spend a little over an hour going back and forth, but ultimately declined. C loves the challenge of getting the best deal on anything.

Room – Because this was our first trip, we opted to go with the penthouse suite. If for some reason the resort was too much for us, we could always resort back to the room. Needless to say, we slept in the room for a few hours, and that’s about it (other than enjoying the balcony for some PDS (public display of sex)). The resort did not mention on their website that room service was included, but were informed upon check in that it was. There was another bed similar to what is on the beach and at the hot tub. Each penthouse room has a bed on the beach with the room number labeled at the top. If you choose not to use it, let your butler know so they can allow another guest to use it. The room also comes with a mini bar. Again, just let your butler know what drinks you prefer, and they will keep it stocked. Gerry kept ours stocked, and even brought up some wine. On our last night we walked in the room and saw two towel swans with rose petals on the bed. Nice touch (I have pictures to post of the room and swans, but see I am unable to).

Pool – As stated in the forum, the pool is large, with one end as the quiet end, and one end as the party end. All of the pool entertainment is located at that end. Ana, KoKo, Jessica, and Vince kept the activities around the pool and beach pumping with energy. The pool was crisp and clean. We noticed the staff taking the time to clean the sides of the pool, making sure there was never a black ring from sun tan lotion you see at most public pools. You will notice a lot of the concrete trim around the foot washing area and around the pool is painted white. Yes, the staff constantly washed that area too, and it remained bright white.

Bar/alcohol – We loved the endless drinks provided at the bar. The website gives a list of alcohol available, and also saw on the forum there were other alcohols available that were not listed like Malibu Rum. Most of the time we just went with Tecate or Dos Equis beer. Dos Equis was poured from a mini tap, so it was always cooler. Tecate came from a can, so with the constant opening of the refrigerator door, it was not as cold. We didn’t know if the buzz came from slamming the Tecate so it wouldn’t get any warmer, or if we were just enjoying the atmosphere. If you nurse your beer, go with the Dos Equis. Some of the posters on the forum said they brought their own insulated containers for their drinks. We saw some guests with those, and will be sure to bring some next time. The bartenders move from the pool bar to the hot tub bar at 4pm, so if you are at the pool and see that the bar is empty, don’t fret.

Hot tub – The hot tub is large, and easily handled the amount of guests once the bar opened. The water was not as warm as you would expect a hot tub to be. There were a few guests playing around in the afternoon, but most of the time it was just an area of social conversation. We would normally return after the disco activities, and the action had picked up. Still more conversation than PDS. The beds were occupied most of the time. We’re assuming it’s different with different guests and times. You will read on the forum about PDA as well. If you are not showing public display of affection with your partner at any time/any place, why would you graduate to PDS???

Aphrodite/Pearl – There are two options for meals (besides room service). Aphrodite serves all three, while Pearl serves dinner. Males, you’re fine with throwing on a t-shirt and shorts for breakfast and lunch at the Aphrodite. D wore slacks and a button up for dinner our first night at the Aphrodite, but that would have satisfied Pearl as well. Meals at both locations were good. We tried octopus with one of our salads. C does not normally eat something like that, but she finished it anyway. She would probably not order it again. Aphrodite has a breakfast and lunch bar, but you can still order off the menu. Each night was a different menu. The menu for the week was Caribbean, Mexican, Grill, and Italian at the Aphrodite, and French, Mediterranean, Italian, and Afrodisiaco at the Pearl

Disco/Theme nights – “Sexy Queens and Kings” was the theme and dress code the first night we were there, which included the Best Chippendale competition. Somehow, Ana and KoKo talked D into competing. Talk about going all in the first night. There were many women dressed, or undressed for the occasion that night, which gave C the confidence to go all out the next two nights. Reading the forum, C did not think she would participate in the disco activities at all. The second night was the “Lust in the Dark” theme with the leather/lace dress code, as well as the S&M show by the staff. Both of us dressed for the occasion in risqué leather attire, but few did. Our last night was the ”XS Night” with dress to impress as the dress code. Again, both of us participated, C wearing white sheer lingerie, and D wearing black sheer boxers, but most were fully dressed. That didn’t damper the mood though. With this being our first trip, we enjoyed participating. Like any other activity, we think it just depended on who was at Pearl at the time. Live music started at 9pm at the lobby, with the entertainment in the disco starting at 10:30pm.

Play/Sin room – The sin room is located to the right at you enter the disco. Just being curious, we peeked our heads in. Nothing was going on, but we can say we went in. C sat in the swing just to get the feeling. D is searching for a place in our bedroom to install one.

Daily Activites – Yoga is offered at the pier in the mornings, but we did not participate. We enjoyed stretching in other ways. We did however play beach volleyball with Vince, Ko Ko, Jessica and Ricco (I believe). C played V-ball in high school, and it was great to play with her. Kinky darts was a game played at the pool area. After participating in the Chippendale competition, we opted out of the competition. It was still fun to watch. Jessica taught an introduction to the stripper pole, and Ana and KoKo taught belly dancing. Other activities included beach games, like Bocce Ball, water volleyball, water basketball. We missed the foam party since it is on Saturdays.

This was a great vacation, a great way to enjoy each other. There were different ages, as well as body styles. We agree with the other posts in that, 1 - it wouldn’t take that long to shed. Long enough for D to sit by the pool, look at C, and off it went. 30 seconds later, C followed suit. 2 – Be as comfortable as you want to be. No one is there to judge you. 3 – There was never any pressure from anyone in the lifestyle. We were only questioned once, and that was in jest. Thanks to those that struck up conversations with us. Yes, it did feel weird to stand in the pool and hot tub and talk to different couples naked. Guess all those public speaking classes imagining everyone was naked really paid off. Pearl is what you make of it. Have open communication with each other, set your limits if you need to, and have fun. We look forward to our next visit.
