So...we’ve just returned from our second trip to Desire Pearl. I thought I would write a trip review now that I have some things to compare and while it was still fresh in my mind.
Some history on us: Mr. is 49, I am 48 and we’ve been married 25 years this year. We have done several CO trips in Mexico, Jamaica and the USA, but never anything with PDS/PDA until our first trip to Desire in August 2014. We enjoy socializing but have little time for it at home, and are not in the lifestyle although our first trip did produce some extended discussion of possibly fulfilling my soft-ish F/F fantasy. More on that later!
I’m going to split my review into several larger topics for ease of discussion.
Food: We love the food at Desire. The restaurants were well attended, but we never waited at either. Servings were a good size for us, not too big. I quite like that food wasn’t wasted, and you had room for appetizer, salad and/or soup and dessert. You could always ask for a second order if needed. At lunch, three tacos is the standard serving from the kitchen, but I always asked for just a single one. Never a problem.
Staff: Staff here are excellent. Wait staff are pleasant, charming and prompt. Of note: one evening I was wearing a wrap around my shoulders. The GM of the Aphrodite immediately came and turned down the nearest AC unit without my asking. Room staff are always smiling and did an excellent job everyday. Entertainment staff are engaging and fun to be around. They ask you to participate, but if you decline, they don’t push. Even security gets a thumbs up here: As we were having lunch at Aphrodite, two non-guests came up from the beach and started walking through. They didn’t seem to be up to anything bad, but Security was on them in a flash, escorting them off the property. In another incident, a guest had obviously had too many mojitos and needed to be helped from the jacuzzi for her own safety. Security handed this with tact and respect and everyone went home in one piece.
Activities: We hung back a fair bit during our first visit. We are naturally quieter and not giant drinkers, so I was determined to be more outgoing the second time around. More effort on our parts produced better results as we were part of the February Yahoo group that exchanged photos and arrival dates beforehand. This allowed us to meet more people because we recognized them right away and were comfortable saying hello. I participated in every theme night and really enjoyed planning my outfits ahead of time, shopping for accessories and modeling various possibilities for the Mr. Every one of my outfits got a lot of compliments and it was really fun to see what each lady turned up in. I got up and danced in the lingerie competition. I did the same for the school girl contest during our first visit, and thought I would die of embarrassment. The second time was a lot easier! I took some dance classes from Lena: belly dance on the pool deck and pole dancing in the disco.
She’s great! Both classes were really fun: the pole dancing was amazing and I got to show my new skills to the Mr. during the disco for a couple nights. People applauded my efforts, which is so kind when you’re putting yourself out there. We took the “Rekindle Your Flame” workshop from Liz. This involved several couples in the disco, and some sensual massage techniques. No spoiler here: use your imagination! Definitely worth it!! Sometimes it was hard to figure out how the whole pool chair thing was working. But Victor/Jared/Javier were trying hard to keep everyone happy. The pool itself was pretty chilly, but people were playing basketball and volleyball each day, so the action must have kept them warm. There was very little "lounging" or floating in the pool in Feb, but it was very busy in August. We also walked to Pto. Morales one morning. Its maybe 20 minutes one way. The town is small and had what looked like several nice bistro/coffee shops/restaurants, but we didn’t eat. Lots of little Mexican trinkets/T-shirts, etc to buy, but nothing we haven’t seen in every other tourist town in Mexico.
Atmosphere: Of course the atmosphere at Desire is pretty darn sexy at any time. We did notice a difference between August and February though. August weather was hot, 35 degrees C in the shade. People seemed more inclined to get sexy on the jacuzzi beds and spend less time in the actual hot water. This made for more sexy play in general around the jacuzzi, but less in the Playroom, as people seemed to prefer being outside. In comparison, this most recent trip had cooler weather to the point where a lot of folks spent their time in the jacuzzi and were less inclined to enjoy the beds. We spent an enjoyable hour one day, but it seemed like we were in the minority and this put a bit of a damper on it for me. Later, one couple told us they enjoyed seeing us, that we were loving and romantic and thanked us. A second fellow later asked us if we would “repeat our performance”. The first comment was appreciated, while the second was not. Also, 80 people in the jacuzzi can get really loud and ruin your mojo . Oh well. The Playroom seemed a better bet this time as it was indoors. We enjoyed this several times, and although several other couples were present each time, I felt they were all very absorbed in each other and I never really felt like a “performer”. I think you need to make your decision to play or not to play and where to do so on a case-by-case basis, depending on your mood and the mood of others around you.
Note: I didn’t really ever figure out how to fulfill my FF fantasy. There was a lot of FF action, body shots, kissing etc. But these gals seemed to know one another and it seemed rude to just swim up and say “Hey! Can I join in?” Its a bit of a tough nut to crack socially, but I’m happy with all the other new things I tried, and so count the trip as a success from start to finish. And there’s always next time!!
Weather: We had alot of good weather, but the evenings tended towards cooler. Add in the AC, and a wrap or shawl is a good idea for the ladies. The Mr. suggested I bring one, as many outfits were “more holes than fabric” as he put it! Quite true as most things are lace, mesh, high cut, low cut, cut out, sleeveless, backless or slit up to there. And no underthings for added warmth. But the days were mostly lovely, some cloudy bits, some windy bits, but I’m a lot browner than when I left, and with nary a tan line.
So that’s about it for me. Sorry it’s so long, but hope the detail will help others with their trips. It’s a lot of fun, no matter how you dress it!! I have now returned from two trips with an even better body image than I had when I left as all the gentlemen were very complimentary. I'm really proud of the new things I tried, as it takes a lot of guts to get up there and strut your stuff. "Real" life seems easier compared to that! And the Mr. loved it all, which is really the whole point after all.
