Our background: over 20 trips to various Carribean locations but this was our first time to Mexico and 1st time to a lifestyle resort 3/3/17-3/9/17
Check in was smooth and simple outside of the pressure to discuss ownership. (We'll come back to that)
Our room #29 was one of 5 rooftop penthouses. It happened to be furthest from the beach and overlooked the jacuzzi (I specifically requested any room besides this one) That being said the room was absolutely spectacular. For our money it was worth it but bear in mind penthouses are on the fifth floor with NO elevators. The luggage guys earned every tip made.
We got in too late to bother trying to get any sun day 1 so we unpacked and grabbed a bite to eat at Aphrodite, one of 3 restaurants on property. We feared only having 3 places to choose from would be an issue. We could not have been more wrong. Food was exceptional at all 3 spots and they changed it nightly at 2 of them. Without question it was the best food we've had at an all inclusive.
After dinner it was time to find out what the theme nights were all about. Our 1st night was "animal print". We'd guess roughly 70% participation from woman and 20% from men overall for the week. The disco opens at 10:30 nightly. There is a 25-30 minute show/entertainment and then the dance floor opens up. The dance floor is packed until roughly midnight and then the vast majority move back to the jacuzzi. We stayed at the nightclub later than most and finished every night with a fresh grilled quesadilla or baked pizza which they conveniently have set up every night outside of the lobby/disco.
Day 2 started by going to the gym which had a great variety of machines and free weights. It's very clean and well kept. After the gym I stopped by the pool to figure out how to get/save chairs. To my delight, our butler Gerry already had us set up. Victor, G and the other pool guys do a great job ensuring everyone is happy. This day the entertainment was a foam party in the pool. Other days include volleyball, water polo etc etc.. The mood is constantly upbeat and the music adds to fun times.
We won't bore you with daily happenings but it's basically the same great fun. Breakfast-sun-lunch-sun-jacuzzi-shower-dinner-nightclub-jacuzzi. Sleep and repeat. Literally the only thing we didn't love was the sales pitch. We can't get into the details because for some odd reason it's not allowed to be discussed but its only 30-45 minutes out of the week and for some it's a great deal. Schedule it for early morning so it doesn't cut into your pool/beach time.
Here's the "fears" part which now seem silly:
Water: Can we drink it? What about ice, washed vegetables etc.. Bottled water is an endless supply and eating and drinking was 100% fine = NON ISSUE
We aren't in the lifestyle. NON ISSUE
Open sex everywhere: The only place it seems to happen is the jacuzzi. If you don't want to see it stay clear of that small area = NON ISSUE
Do we have to be naked? : NO, but you're going to want to be even if you've never done it before. It's impossible to explain but there's a calming effect once there and surrounded by other naked people. Fat, skinny, scars, bald, hairy, shaven, giant bush, none of it matters. We've spent plenty of time at other CO places and Pearl is as judgement free as any of them. Don't be fooled by the promotional photos, it's not filled with super models. It's filled with awesome regular everyday people just like you!
If you took the time to research Pearl you're already considering giving it a try, take the next step and book it. You will not be disappointed.
If you have other questions/fears we'd be happy to address them either below or feel free to send us a PM.
