First time to Pearl - Feb 28-Mar 6, 2018

After a dozen or so trips to RM we decided to give Pearl a try Feb 28-Mar 6. We tried our best to go with an open mind and accept the differences and similarities.
In a nutshell, here's our observations.
1. Guests and staff are excellent at both resorts.
2. Check in - same at both
3. Lobby bar- RM hands down
4. Pool - Pearl hands down
5. Jacuzzi - Pearl hands down
6. Beach - RM hands down
7. Rooms - Pearl
8. Property layout - RM
9. Disco - RM hands down
10. Playroom - RM hands and feet down
11. Restaurants/Meal Selections - RM hands down
12. Spa/Gym - RM
13. Sexual ambiance/Energy - RM
14. Vacation cost/price - RM

We could peel the onion further but this summarizes the main categories. Will we return to Pearl? Not likely.
Will we return to RM? Yes
This is our humble opinion for those planning their first Desire adventure. Hope this helps...Doug and Sue

Interesting, how would you compare the foam party at RM vs foam party at Pearl - next trip we are looking into visiting Pearl during the day on Saturday during our RM stay which would be foam party day.

Just looking for some insight and general opinion, obviously there is no singular answer as it could vary greatly depending on a number of factors.

One of the challenges Pearl has with the foam party is pool size and prevailing wind. Bad combination if you're a bubble. When we were there, lots of people in the pool having lots of fun despite the lack of foam. Not a deal breaker for us, merely an observation.

We visited RM for the first time at the tail end of our October trip (6 nights at Pearl, and 2 at RM). It was our 5th visit to Pearl.

We agree with every point above - and though we love Pearl, we now know that we prefer RM. We’re headed back to Pearl in May, but only because there’s no availability at RM. We will definitely be back to RM in October for 8 nights.

Thanks. I don't really care about the foam itself one way or the other, but at RM it is by far the liveliest and best energy the crowd has had by far, wish it was like that every day.

North52, could you please elaborate on the pluses of RM's Disco and Sin room compared to Pearl.

Certainly.
The disco at Pearl is directly off the main lobby (ground floor). To us, it felt like a small high school gym environment. The playroom is a 10' x 10' room separated by curtains directly adjacent to the bar. We never entered as it was not very appealing or sexy and we never saw anyone enjoying the room.

The disco at RM is on the second floor above the lobby. My best guess is it's 1/3 larger. There are 2 separate entrances from the ground floor and the playroom is behind the bar, behind closed doors and is 2 1/2 times the size. We have frequented it often during our various trips as do many other guests. There are plenty of large beds (5-6), towels, and 2 flat screen TV's playing porn. The other bonus is that it's acoustically sound from the disco. The only real sound is from you and others having sex.
To us, there is really no comparison between the 2 discos/playrooms but I'll let others chime in who have witnessed both.

I’d say the biggest difference is the RM nightclub feels like an actual nightclub... music is better, vibe is better. We loved the RM disco. The Pearl one just doesn’t compare.

We are headed back to Pearl next month. For us, it boils down to what type of trip you want.

Good food, big jacuzzi and chill vacation days= Pearl.
Party mood, so-so food, feeling social = RM

Remember that Pearl has about half the number of rooms as RM does. Makes sense that some of the public areas are smaller. As far as the disco feeling like a gym, I have never had that feeling. This debate will go on forever.
We have been to Pearl 3 times and once to Rm on a day trip. Because we were only at RM for short time, I don't think we got a good feel for ALL of the resort. I will reserve judgement until I stay longer at RM. I do know that at Pearl all rooms are bigger and have an ocean view. Not so at RM. A Day trip to either resort is not a good way to judge either resort. A stay at either resort is the best vacation you will ever have.

North 52 thank you for the info. Been reading comments on RM and keep wondering if we should give it a try. We have been to Pearl 3 times in the last 9 mo's and love it. Have not found anything that has disappointed us other than ourselves taking so long to get up the courage to enjoy the Jacuzzi beds and Sin room this last visit, wow. 3 nights in the Sin room and only had one other couple one night. So size may not matter, the Disco music is a bit distracting at first, then when we get involved with each other the music seems to die down a bit.

I think we are finally going to try RM after reading this. We have done Pearl x3 and it is the crowd that makes/breaks it for us. Seems like the majority feel a higher energy crowd at RM. Maybe we will go "rest" at Pearl near the end.
