Have made a longer report on trip advisor and plan to get around to a similar full report here but I hate to say,our recent trip at the end of July was really a let down as well. Our 8th trip in four years and food, service, entertainment - all obviously have declined in quality.

Then, the dance party take over arrived and things just became weird. There were competing theme nights. The staff seemed confused. The guests were definitely confused. It all made for a weird and oddly unsexy vibe as people sort of wondered about trying to figure out where to be and what was going on. First trip we weren’t sad to leave.

Still our trip wasn’ what the OP experienced. Sorry that happened. Really a bummer, but it seems to confirm the overall feeling we got. Management is investing elsewhere.

We hope everyone posting these negative trip reports also emails and calls management to let them now how unhappy you are. They need to hear it directly from many sources.

We wrote to the resort directly and reported during check out survey. No response other than very short generic response in TripAdvisor. We also brought to current management attention during stay. One was very confrontational and GM we felt as if it fell as if we were wasting his time.

Kinda sad to hear a bad review from Powderfinger, backed up by comments from Eddieandjojo...

Probably won't stop us from taking another trip to Pearl, but it may push us back over to RM. We wondered if the focus on renovating / re-opening Temptation would have an effect on the Desire properties?

Just a little update on our Halloween trip that was booked for Pearl 2018. We did cancel and they actually refunded our deposit after forwarding my review to membership and constant nagging to membership management. FYI: We are not members but had previously booked that trip through friends that are members.
Reading some of the most recent reviews it still seems to be hit and miss so we will hold out and see what happens over the next year. We do not plan on returning for our annual 4th of July trip in 2019 as we are changing things up and booked Naughty New Orleans instead.

We are already booked for next summer as well, this year was our first and it was great, so maybe we'll see you there

We are currently at Pearl. The food, service, rooms, etc are all on par with our trip last November. We are not seeing any differences there. Now the beach and pier are another story. Severe beach erosion with lots of saw grass is there and the pier has a huge section gone (20’ or so). The doors to the pier also do not exist at this time.

But other than the pier and what Mother Nature is doing to the beach, all is on par with prior trips

It's our Naughty New Orleans so can't wait we will arrive Wednesday mid day and stay through Sunday afternoon. We are booking the main hotel so yes keep in touch and hope to meet up.

Glad to hear your trip is going well. Can you tell us is UNIK still open someone mentioned that it was closed for remodel to a tepanyaki/sushi style restaurant.

Hmmm, we are going to be there in 1 week for 8 days and it was on the ciber sale. Building our dream retirement home and have to watch the $$$ now but missed the place and the sale pushed us over the edge, so back we go! We have had perfect trips in the past but the recent rash of not so good posts makes us a little nervous. Guess we will find out. The people are what make the place so I hope we have a good fun group. Bad food and service can really put a damper on things though. Guess a box of Tums is going to be packed LOL. Will remain positive until proven otherwise as life is too short to be the other way! Will do a complete post after so stay tuned!

We were also at Pearl for the 4th of July and unlike the initial trip report, we had a wonderful time and found all to be quite similar to our previous visits. Maybe we were lucky; maybe our standards are different from others; or maybe we just become overwhelmed by the passion and fun that is always Desire. We have visited RM and Pearl at least a dozen times, and we have never been disappointed. In fact, we are doing RM March 8-13 and RM/Pearl June 25-July 3 in 2019. As always, we are excited to return!

We were also there during July 1st (Canada Day) and July 4th - our 3rd trip. We too had another wonderful time. The quality of food was about the same and the staff as exceptional as always. So reading the hugely negative review is a little surprising. Just go and make the most out of your own trip.
