We just returned after another fantastic week at Pearl. We are repeat guests so will only mention a couple of areas others have expressed as concerns:

We found the food to be great: Unix bistro menu has included favorites from the original box menu with sliders and wings. Mexican night in Aphrodite has authentic Mayan selections (don’t expect TexMex which you can get stateside!), the desserts at lunch are best ever! The staffs at all meals are still kind, curtious, and anxious to please you! No complaints!!

Beach erosion from TS Michael: We were shocked to see the beach BEFORE the storm. A 2 to 4 foot dropoff where erosion had nicked away at the beach, pushing back front row of chairs. The pier was open. And then along came Michael on Sunday. The heavy surf toppled a few palms and palapas. Beach volleyball had just resumed for 2 days, despite the piles of seaweed and narrower beach. A lot more sand was lost. A grounds manager told us Monday morning “this was nothing... just a storm”, meaning a hurricane would have been a lot worse! They will upright the palapas and save the palms. The attitude was ‘we will get this fixed’!

We left on the morning of the 7th and was surprised at how much the water had come up over night. I can not even imagine after the storm how bad it was. Although it was beautiful sitting at Aphrodite our last morning watching how hard the waves were breaking on the reef.

We had a great trip and thought the food was great. We were a little worried, seeing so many people talk about how terrible it was.

My only complaint was that the hot tub was a little cloudy in the evenings.
