Amazing Trip for Newbies! October 6-11, 2018

Postby BobHelen » Tue Oct 30, 2018 1:06 am

Well, our first trip to Pearl has come to an end (Oct 6-11) and we wanted to get this trip report out while it was fresh in our minds. In a nutshell, Desire Pearl is AMAZING, and we most certainly hope to return sooner than later. This was our first trip ever to a c/o, l/s friendly resort. Nothing ever before like this. We are “vanilla” (now probably with a hint of spice) – but no matter your spectrum on the lifestyle, we learned that Pearl truly is the welcoming, wonderful, super sexy, sensual, and amazing place that you’ll read about here, and as many people have said before, we can’t wait to “come home” again to Pearl.

(We had been reading the trip reports here in the forum, and on trip advisor, in the months leading up to our travel. And they had us a bit concerned. But we noticed a nice upswing in positive reviews just as we were preparing to head out, and we can report that our trip was absolutely wonderful.)

This report won't be a day-by-day or blow-by-blow ( :bj ) report - but hopefully will touch on the major aspects of our trip to give newbies or return visitors a good idea of what we experienced.

Pre-trip. We feel like we really prepared for our trip (as much as possible) by reading the forums, and listening to podcasts about the resort (we listened to a couple of podcasts – but really fell in love with Room77 and Richard and Lauren and can’t recommend them enough). We also were lucky enough to meet a wonderful couple who invited us into a group, to help us meet new people and get better acclimated for our trip (thank you so much Robert & Julie ❤).

Grounds. We found the resort to be immaculate. From the gardens to the restaurants, bars, pool, hot-tub, and spa. During our trip the resort was pristine.

Rooms. We had a suite our first night, a regular ocean view the rest of our trip (at the quiet end of the pool). Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Fridge is constantly stocked with beer, soda, water. The resort provides daily turn-down service which is welcome. Our room was immaculate during our stay.

Fitness & Spa. We do like to work out (even during our vacations). The resort has a nice fitness center with quality equipment - both strength and cardio. Not a huge space, but big enough to allow for a nice work out. (We did not use the spa services - i.e., massage, this trip. But the spa looks beautiful and we'll use it next time around.)

Staff. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with the best service by everyone. Hector and Jorge at the front of the house; Antonio, Angie and Arlete making sure we were comfy at the pool and our drinks were always filled; Rey and Jesus in Aphrodite and Unik, making sure we were always taken care of; the wonderful bartenders and chefs; and of course the play-makers – Roberto (Bobby); Charlie, Kia, Candi, Chanel, and Panther. And while we can’t remember all names, we would be remiss if we didn’t include the staff you don’t see (engineers, cleaners, mechanical workers, etc). The resort sparkled when we were there. The staff are constantly smiling and making sure that you never want for anything.

Social Atmosphere. The social atmosphere of the resort is the biggest plus. We met many wonderful people there, and hope they’ll be friends for life. Again we can’t recommend enough reading these forums (thanks CokeMann!), signing up under the “What month will you be at…” section, and getting involved in a social media group. Getting to meet people prior to arriving was so nice and helpful. Our fellow guest were friendly and welcoming.

Food and drink. We love good food but are not "foodies". With that in mind, we can say that we never ate a bad meal, and never had a bad drink. The restaurants are all top notch and we ate at all three – Pearl, Unik and Aphrodite. Our favorite was probably Unik, for the atmosphere. For lunch - the seafood grille at the pool was out of this world. The only suggested addition to the beverage lineup would be more of a beer selection. Liquor selection is plentiful. House wine is not bad (and for a premium they have a larger wine selection). But beer selection is very limited (I believe only two - Tecate and Dos Equis). However, that’s not a complaint. Just an observation.

Evening entertainment. We participated in theme nights, attended the shows and the disco. While we didn’t dance much, the shows and disco were packed and a lot of fun.

Beach. Yes, the ocean has sargassum and it does wash up on shore. We arrived just as (then) tropical storm Michael was coming into the Yucatan. We experienced a lot of heavy wind and surf. But Monday as the storm cleared and passed, the staff started working hard to clear the beach and make it pleasant. By Tuesday morning, the beach was looking good, the hotel was managing the sea grass, and we spent some time down under the palapa. The pier is repaired and was nice to spend time on.

Body issues. There are none. Come as you are, you’ll have a wonderful time. As you'll read on the forums here, there are all types & styles.

Clothing Optional. We’ve never been to a c/o resort, never naked in public. But the minute we got to Pearl, we nervously “ripped off the band-aid” and walked from our room to the pool naked. No one cared, and we quickly became comfortable in our own skin.

PDS. You’ll see it. You may participate in it (by yourselves or with others). Sometimes it is sensual, sometimes not so much. But either way, enjoy it. :D

Hot tub. The hot tub is quite large, the water is warm, the drinks are refreshing, and it's easy to be very social, or very private. The beds around the tub are comfy, and if none are open, be patient.

Must-do’s! 1) Be social and say hello and meet new people every day. 2) Pool activities – get involved. Morning water aerobics; afternoon water volleyball or polo; water tantric massage with Charlie & Kia; kinky darts; trivia. Do it all, you’ll have a blast. 3) The hot tub/spa -- go daily, afternoon and evening. Enjoy the warm water, enjoy the drinks, enjoy the conversation, enjoy the scenery. 4) Richard and Lauren’s “Art of Touch” workshop. Pearl on W/F at 4pm (RM Tue/Thu 4pm). Be an over-achiever, get to the disco early to make sure you get in, as space is limited. This is a wonderfully sensual massage and touching session. One day focuses on the woman (Yoni), one day the man (Lingam). No matter which one you attend (maybe both) you’ll have an erotic afternoon. 5) Sensual photography with Jahel (erotic, sensual, portrait – she will cater to your desires). She is wonderful and flexible. Provoke Photography offers packages as well as a-la-carte pricing. But scheduling the shoot and the shoot itself are free, you can buy if you choose. We bought a package and love the photos!

Photos. We did not see this external website before we came, but discovered it after. https://www.oyster.com/riviera-maya/hot ... rt/photos/ This site has good photos of the resort, if you would like to get a better idea of how it looks, and how it is laid out.

Suggestions for the resort. Ocean activities - maybe have some non-motorized water toys available for guests – i.e., a couple of stand up paddle boards or kayaks or some snorkeling equipment that guests can just check out. Space is limited, but how about a tennis court/basketball court for out-door fitness (non aqua?) Resort services – a laundry service (simple wash/dry/fold service) would be nice.

Cameras (smart phone cameras). [-X Just don't. We only saw one couple violate that rule (at the spa and pool). C'mon people - be courteous of others, please.

Final Thoughts… Pearl was wonderful. We will be back!

At RM they have paddle boards and kayaks available to rent for a fee if you are a non member. I would love to see that at Pearl. We had a great time together kayaking at RM on our last trip there.

Great trip report. Glad you guys had a great trip. I have found it is close to impossible to have a bad trip at Desire, other than when you break your foot and even then I stayed 6 more days and made the best of it. LOL
