We will be at Pearl in December. Does the resort offer a dive service or, are there companies within walking distance from the beach. I would love to find a service to the underwater museum. Are there other couples to network with to split costs for an outing to a snorkel/dive site?

Pearl has a dive shop right on site where you can book various dives in the area.

I use the dive shop on the property during our stay in November. Service is very professional, equipment is fairly new. We did 2 dives. One was fairly deep - I think about 90' in to the wreck site (US NAVY had sunk one of their older ships for the artificial reef). It was great dive there is a school of Eagle Rays leaving nearby, we have seen about 15 of them. The wreck is about 10-15 min boat ride from the hotel just outside of the reef that runs along the shore. The second dive was at the reef itself. Was very shallow, colors are not as bright as I've seen in Asia, but there is an abundance of life. It was fun to see lots of different creatures.
The whole trip from the hotel dock was about only 2 hours.
The shop also had provided a refresher course for me in the pool at no charge.

I prefer diving, my lady likes snorkeling. But we aren't talking about in the water

One of the great things about Pearl (at least for us) is that Puerto Morelos is just a 10-15 minute walk away. We used Wet Set dive shop right on the beach. Very reasonable prices for everything from snorkeling and snuba to deep water scuba.
http://www.wetset.comBooking with the resort is probably great too.. we just don't have experience with it.

Will that prevent stuffy noses?

You don't have to come up for air with that?
