First timers worried about weather this week

Leaving tomorrow for Pearl. First time for us. Weather forecast is not looking good at all this week with 80% chance of rain each day. For those more experienced Desire travelers, are these more pop up showers or all day rain this time of year?

We were in the Riviera Maya-area during the first week of October last year with a similar forecast. Don't worry, it's a lot like Florida. Afternoon rainstorm pops up, dump a bunch of rain and it's over in 15-20 minutes.

Not much on the tropical forecast either:

We totally feel you. We arrive on the 11th- 14th and see rain everyday in the forecast. We are also wondering what goes on during the day if we can't all be at the pool?

Agreed that the weather forecast can cause concern, in our four trips we have usually had ont rain day (lasting more than an hour).
The rain days ended up being very memorable, after breakfast most people ended up on the lobby drinking champagne mamosa's then they bring out loads of umbrellas and everyone heads to the hot tub. It ends up being a great way to meet lots of people since there is not much else to do - before you know it you no longer need the umbrella

Don't think we have ever had a trip where the forecast doesn't show thunderstorms everyday. Never had a total washout day in 6 trips. This time of year it's so hot and humid you sometime get afternoon storms that last about 10 minutes. Lightning aways makes the hot tub more exciting!

Yes, I learned long ago not to pay attention to forecasts for the tropics. Yes there might be a call for rain, but that could be a 5 minute shower, so no biggie. And, a rainy day in paradise beats any day at the office, in my book.

That being said, we were there first week of June, and we didn't see the sun once... okay maybe once, for one afternoon out of 8. Yeah, it sorta sucked big time. It was so rainy and windy that we couldn't even sit on our balcony or we'd get soaked, and we'd be drenched by the time we got to a restaurant. The resort didn't have a whole lot going on for rainy days - some board games thrown around the tables in the lobby area. If they DID have other things planned, they didn't publicize it much.

Some suggestions would be.... bartending classes, spanish lessons, salsa dancing lessons, sexy bingo, sexy charades.... any number of things they could have gotten going. We made the best of it - were out on the beach anytime rain wasn't falling. But, it definitely put a damper on things.

We were there 11th to 18th probably rained every day for 20 minutes, one night rained hard after the disco for about 4 hours, actually that was kind of fun!
