There were very few children during our visit, mainly infants. It felt like a Temptation crowd, many couples and adult friends traveling together. This is a copy of the review that we submitted under TA:
We have been to this property many, many times under the former ownership as an adult only resort. We love traveling to Los Cabos, so we decided to stay at this location under the new ownership and see the changes that have been made to the property.
The lobby is completely new with a much grander entrance. There is a nice lobby bar and plenty of seating. They offered some live music in this area and it will serve nicely as a gathering place for the rare times of poor weather. In general, this is the location of the old disco before the remodel. We were offered a welcome beverage while checking-in; it was a good 1st impression to the property. We were certainly surprised to see the adult artwork from the old property throughout the lobby and hotel, although some of the art was modified by adding fig leaves to hide certain body parts.
The rooms were changed with cosmetic items; new paintings, new accent painted wall, new seating, etc. The glass door that serves as both a shower door and bathroom door was not changed in our room, which for the old adult resort was fine but unusual for a family resort. There were several reviews that mentioned that many rooms had 2 double beds and that the rooms with a king bed were often not available. We believe that the resort has created a solution by taking some of the rooms with 2 double beds and combining the beds to make a massive sized bed and that was the room we stayed in. The bed was a little firm but the resort put on a bed topper and we could not feel a seam where the bed was pushed together.
The old property had 3 restaurants; there are now 2 restaurants, 1 that is completely new that is located by the pools and 1 that was remodeled located near the front of the resort. The remodeled restaurant served breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A guest could sit inside or outside at this restaurant and the outside patio was increased in size to accommodate additional seating. The poolside restaurant is much closer to the ocean than the former outside restaurant, it is a beautiful location. It has menu service for “snacks” during the day and it does not offer as much choice for lunch as the buffet. The dinner is also menu service and requires a reservation. We thought the food was good, some things better than others, but overall we did not have bad meal.
The old poolside restaurant was removed and a huge second pool was built. The pool area looks beautiful and even at high occupancy, there won’t be issues with finding seating around the pools or beach. There were issues with seating when there was only 1 pool. The 2nd floor pool located above the spa is essentially the same, although it served as a Jacuzzi in the past, it is now an adult’s only “pool”. We missed the heated water of the Jacuzzi. The surface of the “pool” was changed from a pebble-tec material to pool tile. It is a nice quiet, social area.
The disco is now in what was once the Suki restaurant of the old resort. The disco is open every night and goes to the early morning hours. The dance floor is rather large, elevated and with nice lighting. The DJ’s would take request, although we always wear earplugs to clubs, the volume of the music was not overwhelming. There is bar service and a pool table just outside the disco. There is plenty of club seating around. For us, it was strange to be dancing where we once ate dinner but it served very well as a disco. The only item we thought missing was some black lights.
Now, our number 1 concern about visiting this resort was the change to a “family” resort. We have only stayed at adult only properties with all of our travels to an all-inclusive resort. After reading many of the previous reviews and seeing that many guests traveled as couples, we decided to give it a try. The resort during our visit was 95% + adults with a lot of couples. The kids that were there were mostly infants and only a few older children. With the availability of the adult only pool, the disco is adult only, and when there was nightly entertainment, we didn’t notice any children so the overall feeling of the resort was far from a “family” resort.
A pleasant surprise for us was the staff. There were many staff that worked under the previous ownership; it was great to see so many familiar faces. We again loved the service and believe it will continue to improve.
We only stayed 2 nights because we wanted to give the resort a test-run under the new ownership and family concept. We were pleased with our experience and we will be returning. The beach area is so beautiful where the resort is located and this property is a great option for what we are looking for with our vacations.
