Oct. 7-14

Just got back from a week at Cabo D. Turns out we arrived for that takeover week by Lifestyle Lounge and there were only about 4 couples not in the group of 130 plus couples. They were a group similar to the Azamara cruise group--dressed to the nines most of the time, even to long Hawaiian shorts in the pool and Jacuzzi . Ages were 30 to 45 and they were out to impress and be seen. Came in small groups of 4, 6, and 8 and stayed within their little groupies--hard to start conversations, etc. The Mrs had brought her lifestyle lounge wrap and necklace from the Azamara trip and this did help with meeting more people.

The takeover group went home on Saturday and we had all day Sat. and Sun. with regular type guests--all ages, particularly older people with all sorts of body shapes and didn't give a damn! Loads of fun and sorry we had to leave on Sunday night.

The building is modern, rooms are well furnished, king size beds, but so dark we couldn't read but guess that meant we should be out circulating! The grounds are covered with gardens containing many varieties of cactus which is in keeping with the desert climate of Los Cabos. Food was fabulous, service excellent, entertainment was so so but was supplied by Lifestyle group with orders to ramp up the volume each hour—guess loud noise equals a good party?? Very hard to talk with new acquaintances.
-Pool was large and clean, Jacuzzi was very nice, larger than Cancun. Very inviting. Beds were well laid out and so were the occupants!
-Beach was huge to look at but a disappointment as there are tremendous undertows so the black flag always flew and black means fatal for swimmers...
-Sand was gritty and loose so walking was a wee bit of a challenge but did find the natural pedicure quite interesting.

Took us three attempts to get into the disco—hidden up several sets of stairs which were much safer than the steps at Cancun. Décor was attractive and music was interesting although the strippers were a highlight! The Playroom was definitely a dump—reminded us of an extremely cheap, by the hour playpen. Ugh.

Strangest thing is the location of this place--on a four lane road across from a large shopping centre, flanked by the very large Barcello and on a whole stretch of hotels. Hey, Desire Cancun is set in a mangrove swamp and guarded by alligators...

Had a good time, planning to revisit when no takeover is happening.

Off to Desire Cancun in 3 weeks for the 8th time.
