Desire Cruise theme attire question to those that have been

Postby RJOC » Thu Apr 18, 2024 11:29 am

Is the dress code for the theme nights as risque as they are at their resorts, or do they need to be subdued due to being on a ship?

It looks from the info on the theme nights that we cannot dress as provocatively as at the resorts.

On the Rio cruise it was pretty risque, though what would often happen is that things were a bit more subdued at dinner but then got wilder at the bar after.

One night was Ken and Barbie theme. So lades were dressed up as Nurse Barbie, Teacher Barbie, etc. After a few Espresso Martinis a few of the ladies decided that there should be a "Naked Barbie" and...well, I don't think the bartenders will ever be the same!

Thanks for the info - sounds like our normal Desire theme night attire is appropriate!

Yes, the theme nights are very similar to the ones the Desire resorts have. It does seem as if there is more participation on the ships. Also, the few nights that they do have a "classy" night there is an option to either get dressed up or go more sexy (or both!).

It is good to hear that atmosphere at the ship is similar to that at the resorts. Brochures said that optional clothing is available at open deck and pool deck only, how do people dress while at other areas inside the ship ?

same as you would at the resort really. Once you leave those areas you need some form of clothes on, just as you would if you visited the lobby at the resorts. but the format is pretty much the same as at the resorts.

We found that people dressed up in "theme" attire for dinner and drinks beforehand. It was pretty risque.

Thanks Johnwal. Been to vanilla cruise many times but never joined any Desire cruise. Hector's wife is worried that the air condition in the dinning room is too cold for any risque clothing as in Suki in Pearl.

The air conditioning wasn't as fierce as at the resort, much more pleasant if i remember. Bigger restaurants lends itself to many more people keeping it warmer ;) Tbh the theme nights were very well participated in.
