This cruise sounds like an absolute blast. But if you took the same vanilla cruise (not through Desire), it would cost about half as much. So the premium for being able to be naked at the pool and "playing" is fairly steep. I think it'll be worth it for us, but I wonder how much time we'll have to do that? If we pull into a port in the morning and set sail at night, it seems like we'll be spending the vast majority of time on land. For couples who want the "Desire" experience, do they just stay on the boat? Party late at night after the ship has sailed? Any thoughts?

We have done an SDC cruise in the Mediterranean (Barcelona to Nice) and it was fun. Maybe because it was SDC or because it was in Europe but we found there were many cliques difficult to approach (The Swedes, the Italians, the Spaniards, the Germans). Maybe they didn't speak too much English. Don't know. We did meet some fun people from Latvia and from the US but not as much as we usually do at Desire or on the Couples Cruise we took last Spring. That cruise was fantastic. But the itinerary was not as nice as the European one.

Anyway, back to the SDC cruise, we were visiting during the day and had enough energy to enjoy the late nights. There were 2 sea days which gave us some relaxing time around the pool. Lots of fun. Foam party and so on.

For the booze, we were alowed 2 bottles at departure but no refills at ports. It was also on the Azamara and the service and food was 5 stars. No comparison with the MSC cruise in the Caribbeans.

Desire cruise is more expensive than the SDC cruise in Greece. Not sure yet which one we are going to book, if any. SDC is all swingers. Not Desire. We are swingers and like having more people like us to choose from. There are also the much cheaper Bliss and CC cruises. Decisions...decisions...

The cruise does look really fun. We hope so as we've paid up. Sure a vanilla cruise cost less however the Desire brand is strong, and we talked to staff and they are going all out on this one. Naked and playing does it for us, as well as cool ports so we'll just have to rest when we can, see the sights and party a bit earlier? We'll see. If you two do sign up send us a PM and we can stay in touch. x

So we took the plunge and booked the trip! We really can't wait. And we hope this discussion board becomes a way to meet some of our fellow cruisers before the trip, as this will be our first Desire experience. :)

Was also looking to spend time before the cruise since we are there. You sound like you've done a little research, care to share your Northern Italy hot spots? We were thinking of Tuscany and perhaps some vineyard visits, but haven't started looking yet.

Flights are not that bad. Check out hipmunk.com for a good breakdown of flights and cost.

Hope to see you there...

We just booked the cruise. At this time, we are thinking about going over the week before and staying for a week after the cruise.

That's good news, but there sure doesn't seem like there are that many people reserved with so little traffic on this forum.

We agree, bluewatercpl. Is there another forum where the trip is being discussed? We'd love to correspond with and get to know our fellow cruisers!

I do not know of any other message board for the cruise. When people are going to Desire Pearl in March for example, some people form a Yahoo group and people can join and exchange messages and pictures so you know people when you see them at the resort. We could start one for the cruise if someone wants to volunteer. The problem is that the cruise is being booked through other companies and travel agents not just the Desire site. I suppose that the only way the existence of the group would be known is if Desire would send out a notice to people about the group once they booked. The Yahoo group is restricted to people that are actually registered and will submit a photograph of themselves.

We are going. As stated before, haven't found too many people that have said they are going either. With that said, will be having a great time anyhow and meet others when we get there.
