Live from Desire!

Sitting on our balcony of room 1911 checking office mail - then back to the beach. Wifi works great, btw, stong signal and fast. I'll submit a trip report when we get back, but in a nutshell, having a fabulous time. This is our fifth trip, and first since November 2009. We think the resort is better than ever. While we've seen pics of the new nightclub and other new features, nothing like being here to experience them. Just so impressed with the attention to detail all over the resort. Food, drinks and service have been top notch throughout. We've met many newbies, including several couples from our area, and they just can't believe how nice it is. It was fun just seeing their reaction as they walked around and saw all the facilities. Paul

1911 is our favorite room - we were in it just 10 days ago!!! We left some light bulbs behind (changed the one in the bathroom) and left a couple behind with the hopes that housekeeping might leave them for future guests (we do that with sunscreen that might be expiring before our next trip as well)

Is that room going to be available on the 9th?! It's one of our favorites too!

Have a great trip!

Is 1911 a garden view room? We are going in August as newbies and would love to know what rooms are best!

It is garden view, its centrally located right behind the bar. We have never found it to get noisy with the nightly entertainment and we leave the balcony doors open most of the time.

Its great if you enjoy coffee/espresso in the morning, is close to the gym/spa, is convenient to the beach bar/beds.

They recently changed the lock from a key to a card, we liked the key lock, just left it unlocked all day and never had to worry about who had a card key.

The Best Rooms....

Postby DandAEastTexas » Wed Jun 01, 2011 12:39 pm

....are the ones which hold our best memories. There are no "bad" rooms....just those that require more work to live up to their potential.

First timers should consider their (small "l") lifestyles needs (proximity to pool and dining...late night and/or early morning noise....and ability to walk up or down a flight of steps in high heels and/or under the influence).

Oh yeah, the 1900 building ROCKS!

We stayed in 1911 from May 21-28th. We like the room except for the fact there are no drawers to put your clothes in. My wife didn't like living out of a suitcase for a week. Secondly the "NEW" lock sucked. Everyday I had to go down and get the card recharged. Finicky little bastard. Overall it is a great room and located in a perfect spot.

Is 1911 one of the rooms that shares a balcony with its neighbor? If so, just a word of caution...We normally get oceanfront which mostly have open balconies/patios. Last trip we had to extend our stay due to weather preventing us from getting home and decided to pay less for the extra nights in a garden view room. The first room they put us in had a shared balcony. I would assume that 99% of the time, this would make for a positive experience. We love meeting new people, otherwise, we wouldn't have been to Desire 8 times now. Our experience, however, fell into the 1% negative experience. The couple in the next room were very young newbies, totally smashed at 4:00PM on their first day. Our initial conversation with them consisted of the guy telling us that he hopes he doesn't have to see any other guys' "junk". He didn't mind seeing the women, but he didn't need to have other men exposing themselves in front of him. Um...what part of clothing optional didn't he understand?? He continued talking, but I missed it as I was running down the stairs to the lobby to get our room switched!!
