Dress pants for dinner

Postby kush.mohan » Thu Dec 11, 2008 4:04 pm

We are going to Desire next week. We read at several places that dress pants are rerquired at dinner. Does anybody know if Jeans are OK or are they strict about this? My husband doesent want to bring formals...

The two specialty restaurants, IL PIACERE(International) & SUKI(Asian) both require long pants - they don't have to be dress pants - what I normally wear is just a light pair of Dockers

Thank you for the prompt reply. Any tips on what to pack? I tend to bring too many clothes and my husband too few.

My rule of thumb for ladies when packing for Desire is the following:

If the outfit can't fit inside one clenched fist - then the outfit is not suitable for Desire and you should leave it at home

Obviously you will need outfits for traveling both ways and maybe one off campus trip(if you decide to do it) but other than that you will mostly just end up wearing a pareo(wrap) when needed during the daylight hours and the outfits that fit in your clenched fist are for the evenings.

The rest of your baggage, I'm sure, will consist of mostly shoes - if you are like my wife - LOL

For the guys generally "resort casual" for evenings - tropical shirts, dockers, dress shorts.

BTW - you both should consider if you are going to bring outfits for the "theme" nights at the disco

A woman' view

Hi, I have so much fun wearing those sexy clothes that I can't wear any place else. I do bring one bikini (for beach walks), a wrap and a pretty cover up for lunch by the pool and to walk around the resort grounds, shorts and pretty summer tops for breakfast, work out shorts, top and shoes for the gym, my sexy summer dresses for dinner (think Victoria's Secret), then my really fun sexy outfits for the disco, along with many pairs of shoes :) This fits into a large rolling suitcase along with a carry-on. My husband packs one bathing suit for beach walks, gym clothes, several pairs of shorts and tropical shirts for dinner, a pair of light long pants for dinner at the nicer restaurants & decent sandals. So, basically it is not a problem with two rolling suitcases and a couple small carry-on. We will be returning to Desire for the 6th time in May. Every trip is special and sooo much fun!

Dockers, khakis, etc are perfect for the specialty restaurants, but I'm not sure about jeans ...

I went to dinner with the required long pants, temp was upper 90's, sweat my ass off...the girl across from me wore only a net, no underwear , might as well been nude!...I loved it,...... but men not being aloud to wear nice shorts is a rediculous rule.
Jeans...way too warm for it

Pants

Husband wears light weight summer pants to dinner, air conditioned, he looks hot, I look hot....all is fine :) Somehow, me wearing my smoking hot dress and him in shorts, does not do well for the atmosphere. No one is asking the guys to wear wool pants. Heck, the long light weight pants keep the mosquitos from biting the legs.
