Asking for clarification on dress codes

Postby TitanTn » Wed May 07, 2025 2:31 pm

Just wanting to confirm so we know what to expect and how to pack.

Pearl restaurant and even other dinner locations - this is clear, understandable and I've got it. No issues. Men: long pants, button shirt, closed shoes - looking dapper. Women: as sexy as you want to make it (awesome)

But my real question is about breakfast and lunch - and specifically for men. I think I understand the answer for women is some form of a cover-up - again, as sexy as you want to make it. That seems to be the general consensus anyway. But for men I'm not so sure. In places people have mentioned shorts, t-shirt, sandals. But in other places I've seen it posted as: no shorts, no sleeveless shirts, and no open-toed shoes. So could someone clarify men's attire for breakfast and lunch? Maybe it differs depending on where you eat? But also let me know if I've misstated anything else. Thanks.

Thanks - that makes sense. And I assume it's the same for lunch?

Same for lunch unless you eat around the pool and get a pizza or something off the grill and then you don’t have to go inside so you don’t have to get dressed.

At breakfast, I either put on a pair of board shorts or wrap a sarong around me along with a T shirt that makes people read it and flip flops.

Excellent. Thanks for the info - exactly what I was wanting to understand. But now that the men's dress code is more clear... did I have the women's dress code correct? "It really doesn't matter for any meal other than wearing something that can be loosely defined as a top, and something that provides material to sit on."

TitanTn,

Our experience is what you are saying about the ladies. Something on the top and bottom is all that is required. For example when we go in two weeks, my lady will be wearing a sexy dress to dinner that is very, very low cut and has a wonderful habit of allowing nipple slip. It is very short. Also, for lunch she has a coverup that allows a delightful view of her beautiful breasts.

Perfect. Thanks. My wife will also be wearing items similar to that, but if she's in the clear minority, she'll be self-conscious and uncomfortable. I'm wanting to make sure she's not uncomfortable, and even more importantly that no one on the staff says she's not dressed appropriately. That would be embarrassing for her.

Minimums
Breakfast lunch and lobby: micro bikini or mesh cover for her; short or brief, and open shirt for him. Lobby men can be shirtless.
Dinner: mesh dress for her; long pants, closed shoes, and collared shirt for him.
Shoes are always recommended, surfaces are super slippery.
That's it. The rest you can be nude.
It was our impression that maybe nudity should be enforced for the humid areas like pool, jacuzzi, spa, cause there's so many dressed people walking by that they make the naked ones uncomfortable. That applies also to staff who could wear something more off standard. After all, the hotel emplois plenty and they treat directly with people who are naked.

It's a clothing optional resort of course so you really can't enforce nudity.

This comment about feeling uncomfortable being around clothed people when you are naked comes up a lot and it surprises me. The clothed people are in the minority - it's they who would feel uncomfortable, not you.

I'm not really sure what you meant about the staff and what you think they should wear but certainly, you aren't saying they should be naked as well right?

When this has come up in other posts, I get the sense that the person is feeling like the person wearing clothes is getting to look at naked people "for free". In other words, they think people should have to get naked in order to see other naked people, or that the clothed people are somehow ogling them. What difference does it make if one is seen naked by another naked person or a person wearing clothes?

I agree with TandD. One thing I like about the Desire 'atmosphere' is that everyone can do what they want in terms of clothing without feeling out of place. I find that truly - no one cares. But since it's a clothing optional resort where everyone spent extra money to have that option - I also feel like it's the clothed ones that are a little out of their element. I tend to feel sorry for them that aren't feeling free enough to embrace the clothing optional choice that's available. Of course they also just simply may not be interested in being nude at the moment, and that's everyone's own choice. I still feel sorry that they're missing out!

Virtually no resort is ever 100% optional. They can and often do have exceptions for certain areas. Desire already has compulsory clothed in certain areas ie lobby and restaurants. If they wished they could easily make certain areas compulsory nude. Hedo does that.
The fact is that many people, especially women, feel uncomfortable when large numbers of men run around in shorts all day.
