New theme nights for 2012

This is the place for general questions / general discussion about Desire Riviera Maya

Exactly Miranda - we see it as an opportunity to change things up a bit. Who doesn't like a sexy nurse or cop? How about sexy NFL lingerie or cut-off jersey representing your favorite team. How about leather chaps...my wife looks great in thigh high leather boots! Also, we'll mix in a naughty school night regardless of the theme of the night...its the bomb!

While I enjoyed the previous theme nights, it was time for a change (IMHO)!

Having been to Desire a dozen or more times now, we find ourselves rarely participating in themes these days. We definitely understand the draw for newbies, but we would just prefer a "dress to impress" type of environment. Some of the costumes end up looking downright cheese ball. Thankfully they seem to have done away with the king of cheese... yes, the naughty school girl theme. That one should have been laid to rest in the lifestyle costume graveyard long ago.

We are with you, asd1 - we prefer 'dress to impress' but try and follow the 'themes' a little bit. We wear red on red night, white on white night, high heels, short pleated skirts for school girl but we don't go in for the costumes as I don't want to be showing up in the same outfit as someone else.

When we first saw the new themes, we thought "WTF???", but now that we've seen the details, they look like fun.

If you're like us and can't figure out what the themes really mean, go to the Nightly Entertainment Desire Resort & Spa Riviera Maya page and click on each individual nights' theme to be taken to a page which details what each theme is all about and has photos of suggested costumes.

Hope that helps.

Howard & Marci

PS: Dressing To Impress is ALWAYS an option, no matter what the theme :D

Since the recent change in theme nights, I would like to hear from
someone who has recently returned from Desire.
Were the new theme nights well participated? Was there any confusion
with some still sticking to the "old theme nights"?
We are leaving a week from today and had our outifts planned for the old
theme nights. Now I'm just wondering if it's worth it to go out and buy
new gear.

Much appreciated.

We just got back (Jan 3-9th) and theme participation was really low. It was our first trip so I don't have anything to compare it to but all in all there were hardly any theme dressing up, mostly just dressing to impress. if people were dressed up (we're talking max 5 people other than the entertainment staff) it was the new theme.

It's probably going to take a little time for the new themes to get up to speed. Got back yesterday, there was no discernible theme if you looked around at night, and there were still people dressing in the old themes each night, some more for the old than the new. We'd guess that sudden change with no warning is to blame, so we'll see how it goes.....

@ Sharon & David - I will still wear my 'fetish / leather' outfit for the Dark Angel night and School Girl - well, just wear it any of the other nights that don't appeal to you. You are right - it's called 'Desire' for a reason.

We first vacationed at Desire in 2004, and there have been many changes. After Wilma I believe is when the theme nites took off. The theme nites have brought a competitive spirit into play. Does anyone recall the first toga parties at Desire? Remeber there is nothing that says you have to comply with any of the theme nites. Wear what you feel comfortable with, have fun be sexy and the hell with it.
