Do I need to book advance or I can just take a cab in the airport ?

How much is it ?

Thanks for advice.

I think it's a good idea to book in advance, either through the Desire website or using one of the recommended hire companies - I think you will find information here on the site.

Last year we booked with Lomas, who were good on the way in but on the return trip to the airport we had a vehicle that had broken air-con.. it was uncomfortable. We have booked with Trans Beach this year... booked as part of the package the cost is $97.

See you at the beach bar! 8) 8)

USA Transfers - $35 one way/$ 60 USD round trip - per couple for Private transfers(direct, no other stops, airport to resort) - very reliable !!!

It's about a 20 min drive from the time they pick you up until you arrive at the front entrance to Desire.

If you click on the their logo below it will take you right to their booking page for both Desire Pearl Desire and Riviera Maya - same price for either location

Bravo to CokeMann's recommendation for USA Transfers. We have used them previously and had a wonderful experience. Too, when we have made reservations, they actually send you a picture of the person who will pick you us - noting that the driver will be just outside the airport door holding up a sign with your last name. Too, they watch your arrival times and if there is a change, they will make the accommodation. It is a great service!

They stopped doing the sign with your last name (at least as of our last couple of trips) but they still do a great job. We have used other companies in the past when included with our booking but USA Transfers has been by far the best. Private vehicle and friendly drivers. Our driver last trip said they also treat their drivers better than other companies and don't require them to work as many hours in a row so they are not driving drowsy!

Not really necessary but.....
- we usually tip the USA transfer greeter(guy with the sign) if he hustles and gets our ride quickly and he usually also take our bags over to where our ride is to arrive ( a couple of bucks )
- the driver we usually tip $5 each way, but it's really your call, they don't ask or expect a tip

USA Transfers web page with regard to Tips wrote:What is the usual tip?
$1 or $2 to the guy who greets you. Tip for the driver IF he helps you with your bags, explains things to you along the way or leaves you alone if that is what you prefer. Drivers depend HEAVILY on tips, but they know they must earn them, much like waiters. In the end, you can tip whatever, if you want and whomever you want.

There are pages and pages on the subject of tipping at Desire - just put the word tip in the SEARCH box on the top right of the page and hit search - you can get a very good idea about how the overall community tips :D

Thanks for the info. Used TransBeach last year. Decent service, nice drivers but a bit overpriced & we expected the vehicles to be a little nicer. We just booked with USA Transfers for this year & hope everything that has been said is true.
We are taking someone's advice & using a transfer from the airport to Desire only & grabbing a cab to get back to the airport. Reason being, no hassle about picking you up way, way, way too early before your flight. The cab allows you to dictate when you leave for the airport & it costs about the same. No reason to leave 2 1/2 hours prior to your flight. We arrive at the airport about 1 1/2 hours prior to our flight & always have time to do last minute shopping, grab something to eat & hang out.

USA Transfers website address seems to be a dead link. Is there a web address someone can provide? Thanks.

We made our reservations directly through Desire and selected the airport transfer option. Is that process still in place or are all transfers a separate deal from the resort?
