Damn I see you come when I go! If I get any tips while there, I will certainly share. I've tried every siliconey, waxy, greasy, whatever product on the market to no avail. Have you been to desire before? If so, was it a major problem?
I'd say go short, but not too short that extra tight curls caused by humidity and sun damage will make it shrink up to nothingness lol. Mine is shoulder length and baby fine (yet poofy when humid) and I don't pull off a ponytail too well. But I can't get it wet either bc it dries like a Brillo pad!
Last year I took a family vacay to Cabo, and while the weather is pretty dry out there, I did have luck with even getting my hair wet then drying like a "normal haired person." I used an at-home straightener, made by clairol or revlon. It can damage your hair, but it is made for non-ethnic hair an is gentle enough to do once or so. I don't have time to do it before going this year, and the regrowth is a little bit of a pain when I had half curly and half straight going on because I refused to cut it (afraid it wouldn't grow back haha) and didnt want to keep up with maintenance of using the product. If you're going to go somewhat short eventually anyway (it's good for 3 mos) then try it! It takes about 2 hours (that includes waiting time) to do, but having a helping hand would certainly speed up the process I think. Maybe I'll try a quicker 30-day one. Those usually don't work tho lol but I have one leftover from a BOGO deal at rite aid some time ago. Maybe I can get my 9 year old to assist me!
