Newbie Question - What to tell the family?

Postby jcrd1970 » Mon May 04, 2009 9:21 am

Hi All -

We're taking our first "lifestyle" trip to Desire July 3-10. We're excited, titillated (tee hee), and - we think - psychologically ready for the full monty experience (clothing and beyond).

Our question for you more seasoned swingers is slightly more mundane, though. We've read all the posts about "vanilla" emergency contact numbers, but would like to know where you actually tell your families (parents, etc) that you're staying?!? Is there a standard answer ("Secrets"?) that you all use to deflect questions, or do you just say "don't ask"? If we use "Blue Bay" or "Original Resorts", then the website takes you right to Desire.

At the end of the day, I don't think anyone would be stunned to hear we're staying at Desire, but it would still be more comfortable if we could avoid explaining our affection for body shots and group sex to our in-laws, y'know?

Any input would be welcome, including "shut and stop worrying" or "if you can't handle being 'outed', don't bother going".

We, as well, dont say where we are going to anyone. They only person that knows where we actually are is my wifes best friend. And that is only in case, god forbid, something bad happens to us and they need to know where to start looking.

What we have found to work well to tell people is that you are staying at the Azul resort. It is literally 500 yards up the beach from Desire so you can easily go check it out with a morning coffee in hand, and actually be able to speak about it with some knowledge, should anyone say to you "we've been there before!". (To which, they will no doubt continue to talk about that "OTHER RESORT" down the beach, where everyone is nude and having sex! )

As for "if you cant handle being outed......", Its not that we couldn't deal with it if we had too, but We would PREFER to have it kept on the QT as much as possible. We dont really want our "worlds to collide". Cant see any good coming out of that ! In fact, having the secret desitination, is one of the things that makes going to Desire so much fun for us.

Go with an open mind and have a blast !!

We say that we haven't anything booked, we will just take pot luck and see where we can get in when we get to wherever we are heading for. We turn on the mobile phone for 10 minutes every day and if anyone wants to contact us in emergency they send a text saying "phone so-and-so". It has worked, so far, all over the world and no-one is any the wiser as to where we have been, particularly since we don't do "holiday photographs".

We always just call it "the resort" and if someone asks what it's called I think for a second, look at him, and say "What's it called again?" and he looks at me & says "Crap! I don't remember right now!" LOL Somehow that's worked for 2 years now...

We have cell phones, so no one really NEEDS to know the name of the resort unless they're just nosy! We have told the extra nosy that we're at Azul before tho.

We play it like Old Sea Dog. We never have a room booked anywhere, That is true outside Desire. We just go. If we end up at Holiday Inn Express off the Highway in Playa.. so be it.
Our family is grown so its not so much a problem. They all suspect we are up to something anyway...lol.
Sophie, at the hotel gave us a vanilla number a while back. Call the hotel, they will certainly give you one. I always think of the gal we met at the hot tub at New Years.. she thought she recognized the other lady from somewhere...somewhere...but with the nudity and the booze.. things can be a little foggy.. oh they knew each other alright.. they work at the same school...lol. We think about them, how did the first day back after the Holiday break went...lol.. Who was redder? Ha!

We too, *ahem*, "stay" at the Azul.....and funny enough their beach is pretty empty in the morning, which has allowed us to take "proof" pics.....

Most of our friends, family and co-workers know we choose to vacation at clothing optional resorts so most don't ask us any more.

But, when they did ask, we just said "Oh, just some time-share place". That's all they needed to hear.

didn't do us much good since we were less than 2 weeks out and it takes about 2 weeks for the mgmt to e-mail ya back

And of course wouldn't ya know it, it was the one and only time someone tried to get ahold of us and not by cell phone. Of course the # I received previously from Desire was for their reservations so my folks got the pleasure of getting every resort listed for them to try to find us.

Next time we just aren't giving out a # at all.

This question comes up a lot and for us, it's never been an issue.

Right from the start of our clothing-optional resort experience, which was Hedonism II for our wedding, we told everyone, our parents and children included, that we were going to a clothing-optional resort, which Hedo II is, and which Desire is as well.

Neither resort is a lifestyle resort and though both are lifestyle-friendly, there is nothing on either resort's website that says they're lifestyle resorts or that implies that you have to be a lifestyler to go to them.

So we go to clothing-optional resorts!! Big deal! I guess if you had a bunch of really prudish friends, they might raise their eyebrows, but it's not illegal or immoral to enjoy sunning and swimming in the nude.

If anyone questions the possibility of there being lifestylers there, we just say "I guess there could be some there, but we're not into that (add a "ew!"" or "that's just wrong!" to reinforce how you would NEVER participate in something like THAT) and they don't bother us so it's not a problem. The people we've met are just like us and enjoy the freedom of being naked." We also often laugh and add "and you know, the funny thing is that most people look better with their clothes ON!". which they do, us included :)).

The bottom line is that Desire is NOT a lifestyle resort; it's a romantic, couples only, clothing-optional resort. A wonderful place to rekindle the flame with your s.o. :))
