We are splitting our trip between the two resorts next month. Is a taxi the best way to transfer from RM to Pearl? And if so, will the resort arrange a taxi for us? We want to make the transition as smooth as possible so we don't lose the whole day checking out of one place and into the other.
Yep, a local taxi is definitely the easiest way - 250 Pesos($25 US) will get you to the other resort. When you are ready to leave just ask the concierge to call you a taxi, should only take a minute to get one since there are usually several just waiting outside the resort entrance

If you pay in pesos the posted taxi union rate between the resorts is 250 pesos - however if you pay in USD the taxi driver will only give you a 10 to 1 ie $25usd - hint - don't mess with the local taxi union you could end up facing the local police or worse ..... seriously !
Indeed, good advice, that's why we always uses pesos when paying for anything outside of the resort. Easy to use the ATM at the airport once you clear immigration.
Be careful getting peso from ATM in puerto morales. Shorted us 400 on a $5000 withdrawal. Also airport in Atlanta ripped me a new one at ATM charging me $360 us for about $320 worth of pesos. Neither resort has a machine to dispense pesos and cab ride from desire r m to ATM in puerto (nearest per driver but he probably lied) and back was $450 peso. Best to bring your money with you except you could walk to ATM if your at pearl
