Oh no! Over July 4th there were 5 beds and 1 lounge. Must be getting worse... I was hoping they would see these posts and up the number of beds around the jacuzzi to 8 instead of the usual 6, but looks like it's going the wrong direction... :DL

Perhaps they change them out depending on crowd. We were there during a sold out period and maybe they needed to spread them around??? In any case more is better 8) They definitely have the space :D

just returned from 7 nights at Pearl. What a wonderful return trip for the wife and I. We had the couples Erotic massage and Gladys was a huge hit with the wife. The photo shoot was so much fun and erotic as well. We were struck by the number of people wearing swimsuits everywhere which surprised us since we all know you pay a premium for a nude resort.
if you want to wear a swimsuit, go somewhere else.
We were more amazed at seeing more than half the folks wearing suits at the jacuzzi "play area". We never saw a couple remove their suits to "play" which is very telling since it seems it is becoming more of a "watching" area.
I think this should be a nude only area. It's clothing optional on the resort but the nature of the play area at the Hot tub
should promote everyone being nude to prevent the couple just looking to watch the "real" couples. I was amazed by the couples on the beds playing with their phones, IPads and laptops. The wife and I were a little concerned about this since obviously cameras are used on all devices now. The rules are clearly posted banning electronics. We have been at other nude resorts where staff affix bright stickers to electronics with cameras so other guest know the lenses on these devices have been blocked. I watched a man smoking in one of the beds next to the no smoking signs which was irritating since none of us want to look at ashes and burn marks in the beds. I finally pointed the sign out to the man and he was pretty irritated that I complained to him. My wife was upset at me for doing the staff job but the bartender was clearly not going to stop him after an hour of this. I walked back from the bar and stepped in his cigarette ashes so felt I should mention the no smoking policy. I have been to resorts where smoking is allowed by the pool/jacuzzi area and it is gross to say the least.
We also witnessed the reserving of jacuzzi beds with personal belongs for hours with no guest.......really?

I am a bit anti-tech under normal circumstances. Even more so in this situation. We are visiting DP for the first time in a couple of weeks, and the practice described above by tropicfun49 is completely unacceptable! So much for privacy and discretion.

Some of the other observations were also disappointing...

we did find the bathing suit and IPad crowd was mostly gone late at night at the jacuzzi. The usual large crowd in the afternoon had the usual suspects laying on the beds with the laptop or iPad . Nice.

Do very much agree that tech devices should be left in the room. Just because people enjoy nudity and other things in a public setting does not mean they want it recorded by others. Don't have an issue with people using the beds for what ever but do have an issue with those who claim them by placing item on the beds then spend hours not using them.

We also have a problem if this is going on. We saw very few iPads or iPhones last year around the pool but they should not be allowed at all around the hot tub area. My two cents...

We whole-heartedly agree that the photo taking capable electronics shouldn't be allowed around the pools and jacuzzis at the Desire Resorts. And who really wants to listen to others' talking on their cell phones? I know I don't.

I can't imagine that anything could be that important that you just can't miss out on while you are on Vacation . Yes, there may be issues at home that 'need' your attention, but seriously, leave your devices in your rooms and walk back to your room every hour or so to retrieve your messages.

The resort isn't that large. It's not that big of a hike back to your room.

Oh. And the smoking aspect? It's a pretty gross habit and being a reformed smoker myself, I have a very low tolerance to cigarette smoke, often ending up in hours long coughing spells. I do try to steer clear of anyone who is smoking but often the wind just carries it my way, much to my chagrin. But it is what it is, although there should be a designated smoking area and those who smoke should be courteous enough to use a proper method of disposing of their cigarette /cigar butts, not just butting them out in the garden or in the sand.

And as 'they' have been saying for years, kissing someone who smokes is much like licking an ashtray. Not sexy.

I don't care whether people are clothed or not, if they're using the beds. What does bother me, is that they are saved with personal possessions. When we were there for 8 nights, we had the chance to use a bed once, while at a jacuzzi, because all other times, they were covered with other people's belongings. Selfish and rude.

Could not agree with you more on the cigarette aspect. Last night at the hot tub bar a rude, disrespectful couple were smoking. Unfortunately we were downwind and smoke was blowing our direction while trying to enjoy ourselves on one of the beds.

A sign posted near/on bed posts stating "So that all our guests may enjoy the beds please use the cubby shelves for personal items" would be an easy (and hopefully successful) way to convey the message. Yet there are always those who would ignore ~ No Smoking sign is ignored by a handful of people.

We have also noticed that occasionally couples will have their butler (Penthouse guests) place a "reserved" sign on a bed along with a beach bag. And it may or may not be used.

For those of you who think there should be no I-pad use around the pool, what about those of us who use our I-pad to read books? I love laying by the pool or on the beach beds & reading & since I don't want to take up room in my suitcase with a bunch of paperback books, I just download a few to by I-pad - a lot lighter to carry! I would have no objection to the resort putting some kind of sticker over the camera lens of my I-pad so everyone around me would know I was not taking pictures. :)

Clearly marked as a no smoking area…….ask the bartender to stop the smoker if you don't want to address the person. I also love the couple who show up with "their personal music" playlist and ask the bartender to turn off the jacuzzi
music. I laughed and had the bartender turn the music back on for everyone in the area. I'm sorry but your crappy little portable speaker and music selections can be for your room. Some people think it's all about them. We paid a pretty big chunk of change for our vacation and ALWAYS have a great time without offending anyone or intruding on their fun. If you leave your stuff on an empty bed for a long time, I will politely move it to a cubby so my wife and I can enjoy the vacant bed. We also will remove the towels when we are through on a bed so another couple doesn't have to……..just saying
