Does anyone take a night out away from Resort?

Seem like the resort is between two towns that have a lot to see and enjoy some night life. Does anyone have experience or suggestions on this topic? Which theme night would you chose to go and miss? This is our first trip.

We plan on heading into town one evening to go to the show at Coco Bongo- we made the trip a couple years ago from Temptation and thoroughly enjoyed it. We are staying 8 nights- if we were staying a significantly shorter time I think we would probably stay on resort. Nick (and the toned Kitty)tm

I'll lay money you won't go.......it's much further to go than from TTR.....and when you see what the nights have to offer here.....

add my money to that as well. If I had to go to Coco Bongo's, I would go before or after my visit to Desire. What is the point spending the money for Desire, long taxi ride to and from. But each to their own...

We rarely leave the resort day or night. However, we did stay in Puerto Morelos the night before our Desire stay and enjoyed an awesome dinner at El Merkadito on the beach. It's really hard to find anything in Cancun that rivals a night at the Desire Lobby, Disco and Jacuzzi lounge, but I could see how someone staying more than a week may want an off campus adventure.

Perhaps schedule a pre or post Desire night stay in Cancun to hit the clubs.

dlee1967 - Thanks for the restaurant and other off-resort places to see. If others have some suggestions, that would be gr8 too. We will be first-timers at Desire in Dec. of this year and are looking for some off-resort activities and places to see when in the Cancun area. We already live in tropical climates now but it is always nice to experience new places in other locations.

We like to walk the beach south to see some of the local culture, get a bite to eat...maybe an hour each way. We also try to get off the resort for some sort of daytime fun...scuba or parasailing. But we're never gone for more than a couple of hours.

Really, why the hell would we leave? Everything we could possible want is right there!!!! But we stay less than a week...six nights our next trip. If we were there for 10 days or more like some folks tend to do, I could see a little getaway/break.

Playa del Carmen is a nice town (about 20 min from Desire Pearl) you will have Night fun, Great Food and a beatiful beach ... if you have enough time you may spare some time at Cozumel Island ,there is a ferry that departs from Playa del Carmen every 2 or 3 hours...

When you go to Desire, dont forget to visit Cancun!

Only reason we may leave RM, is to visit Pearl on Foam party day. Other than that, it's all Desire.
