questions about dinner attire for the men

Postby SandT » Mon Aug 08, 2016 1:05 am

my soon to be wife and I will be taking our first trip to DP next june, 2017. I have read about how nice the women dress for dinner but haven't heard much on how the men dress. my problem is that i'm country and don't dress up in suits and slacks. for me it's nice jeans, boots and a nice button down shirt. will this be adequate for dinner attire at the restaurants that are there? :US

Hi, my husband typically wears a button up or polo style shirt and light slacks/linen pants depending on wear we are dining - boots might be a bit warm but i think it would be acceptable!

well, we live in texas so the heat is not an issue. didn't know if wrangler jeans would be perceived as tacky or lack of trying.

The question of wearing jeans comes up fairly regularly. Plenty of people feel like nice jeans are spiffy enough for dinner although I would wager that more people feel that they aren't. Wranglers might spill into the "try just a bit harder" category.

Most of the women are going to be wearing really nice/glamorous/racy stuff. Everyone agrees that it's tough for the men to match that kind of look without a suit or something but some sort of nod to "dressing up" seems appropriate.

To be clear, nobody is going to call you out or look down on you if you wear jeans. It's really up to you but have you ever gone somewhere where everyone is dressed up and you didn't get the memo and you feel under dressed? You might feel that way if you don't kick it up just a small notch.

Fellow Texan here! My husband is also most comfortable in his Wranglers and I have no problem with him wearing them. He will usually wear jeans to dinner at Aphrodite and his linen pants, button down and closed toed shoes to Pearl.

I usually put a lot of effort into my look at dinner - and for me it is important, that mr. DK does the same. He is just delicious when he is all dressed up and ready to eat 8)

Actually I love it, when the men make an effort - but it is a personal preference.

It is your vacation, and you should wear whatever you find nice and your SO find sexy. That said - as others have mentioned, there are rules. And I have seen on occasion, that somebody were not allowed to enter Pearl restaurant because of their attire.

When we were there 3 yrs ago, I (the man) brought along sheer thongs and undies. But I chickened out wearing them even though wife wore pretty sexy clothes. As we'll be at Pearl again in December, I'm willing to be a little more adventurous this time around.

So I would like to ask a question to the ladies from the man. What would you like to see on us guys at disco time?

One last thing. We're not into dressing for theme nights but just the usual sexy wear.

Thoughts?

As a female, I love to see a man in sheer, silky, sexy underwear and, as well, a "dress to impress" outfit (nice dress pants and shirt is great)

We don't bring a trunk full of costumes or outfits but, I will admit we are from the disco era, a Vinnie Barbarino outfit on a man does it for me. Jeans, in the tropics, doesn't do it for me, nor does silly costumes, but I do think it's fun if some people want to do that. We appreciate any and all efforts anyone puts in to their evening attire. No one has to go overboard.

Can you describe what you've seen? I really want to be psych myself up this time so I'll bring the right stuff and actually participate.
